I didn't do any writing as I was recovering from getting my last queer_fest fic posted everywhere. Not helped by LJ dying in the middle of it either. That, and I got distracted by an old gangster AU fic I'd tried and failed to write for RPF big bang. I think I might try rewriting it from scratch for NaNo this year, barring any other ideas. It'll give me time to research 60s UK gangsters in more detail at any rate. Not sure I'll make the rewrite a crossover though. I think that would just complicate things too much. But we'll see.

Still working at my AU big bang fic though. I've still got about 13.6k. I sort of maybe know where I'm heading though so that's something. I'm going to try and churn out as much as I can before I have to send my rough draft in. It's unlikely to be finished, but at least I'll have an idea of where it's going. So yes. That's about it, really. I like where it's going, and the more bad guys appear, the more structure it gets. Though I will admit to being rather lax in research this time. I just - I can't be arsed. I really can't. I just want to get the draft done and then I'll think about research.

::cheerful:: I know how a series of linked drabbles is themed, and I've got two down, eight to go. (Considering I never can write short stuff, I'm very pleased about this!)

My long wip has progressed toward 18K. So far I think of it like Lost in Translation meets Saving Private Ryan. I still have 7K to go to meet the minimum. I never thought that I left so many holes to patch.

Another fic is now 4K. It's more like several episodes rather than a whole fic. I need to link it better.

I wrote, hooray! Even though I'd only had a couple of days where I didn't write, it still gave me this "OH NO WILL NEVER WRITE AGAIN" worry. Which is silly! But yeah, I pulled out my old [community profile] mundane_bingo card (I wish that comm hadn't died ;_;), realized I was close to a bingo, & wrote the first draft of a fic for a square.

My main WIP... I haven't had the energy to even take a look at it lately, which sucks. I feel like it is finally getting somewhere, now if only I had the time/energy to keep it going in that direction!

Is mundane_bingo officially dead, or just reeeeeaally slow? I'm still trying to work on mine, theoretically (except I keep switching fandoms).

Given that the last time there was a mod post was in September & no new cards have been given out since December (I wouldn't have known they had caught up that far w/doing cards if I hadn't checked & seen the post was edited), I'm not holding my breath. :/ There was mention of a more complete version of the rules/posting guidelines/scoring last June, but that never seems to have happened.

It'd be great if someone else wanted to pick it up, though.

I spent some more time with my outline and added some bits that I was stuck with but it's still not quite finished.

Why must it be so hard??

Still revising/editing my short story, hoping to get it to novellette length--only 1600 or so more words to add. Which will be fairly easy as it the poor thing was pretty bare bones.

June challenge fic is officially on hold. I can't finish it as I have to have info from the previous chapters--that have not been written yet. So I sort of accomplished my goal, but not completely. I'm glad though, because it really was such a chore to spend time on. I'm just not into this story anymore, but promised I'd write this chapter. So now I have a bit of a reprieve.

July brings on a fic I've had in the works for YEARS and have wanted to finish. So I'm looking forward to that.

My Big Bang beta person looked at my latest chapter and commented that one fellow might be slightly out of character -- and in looking at it again, I agreed. I rewrote him a bit and gained 300 words. So that was 300 new words for the day, even though the chapter was technically finished. ;-) I'm hoping for some quiet time on Thursday so I can concentrate on the next chapter!

I'm feeling confident still, though I have to keep reminding myself that a whole month to write 10K plus words sounds like plenty of time, but the way Life Happens around here will mess with that for sure and certain. When RL isn't happening and I can sit and concentrate, I do well. Characters are cooperating, ideas are coming, and I have plenty of outline left to write a Big Bang story. I just have to not let up or procrastinate too much (in spite of RL) or I'm going to regret it later, I think.

I'm going to head home and work on a couple of stories I need to finish up - my Friendathon entry (I have a potential reader threatening me with mayhem if it doesn't turn out exactly the way I already secretly planned for it to turn out) and a piece of utter WHAT IS THIS EVEN I'M A GEN WRITER slash nonsense. Trying to clear my plate off before PicoWriMo (a no-minimum-wordcount writing challenge on LJ) kicks off tomorrow.

Also I have shopping. And a possible job to arrange.

I was able to get started on a fic I'm considering putting for the July challenge, but kinda can't seem to write the beginning (I know what's going to happen, but I just seem to not able to get it out into words ) and only able to get around 300 words, oi. I was able to do other writerly stuff before the writing though like posted a short story over one LJ community and actually tried out a bit of mind mapping for my second help_japan fic. If I can I might try to concentrate more doing that mind mapping.

I'm disappointed I'm not able to get one word out of my second help_japan fic. D: My mind is either distracted with other stories or with real life stuff. Most likely I won't put it as my July fic challenge, but I'll still see if I can organize the story a bit during that time with some outlining and mind mapping. I signed up for a couple writing fests, so those will be my main fic challenges for July.

I wrote 1002 words for a very random xover fic and 501 words for a H/C fill.

Part of me is all shiny-eyed and happy with the first Big Bang fic while the other part wants to get it done.
