Discussion: editing. Do you edit as you go? Do you edit when you're finished? Ask someone to look over for you?

I usually wait until I've finished before I edit anything and I sometimes ask my friend to look over for me. I have tried to do edit as I go a couple of times and as I'm dyslexic I always seem to miss things so I tend to wait.

I got my pen edits for project!ambition from last week, typed up yesterday and having read through afterwards I'm convinced I've missed somethings but I can't tell what and at 12k(ish) of a WIP I'm pretty much trying not to feel too defeated about it.

I edit as I go and do a final concentrated edit at the end. The editing as I go is often me catching a mistake or tweaking something to make it sound better as I reread in an attempt to figure out what to say next. I used to have someone else look at it, but now I don't. I still miss things even with all the editing, but it's not usually anything too awful!

I edit as I go. I know I should edit again when I'm finished, but just can't bring myself to. Fortunately I have several readers who enjoy pointing out my errors to me.

It's good when readers point out typos.

If I edit it has to be after I am done because I'm not a fan of reading my own stuff over and over again, even when I love what I am writing.

I have a friend who reads as I am writing and while she sometimes points out typos, I've never been fortunate enough to have a long term beta. I don't believe I ever will so I just do the best that I can.

Same here, I try to wait until I'm finished before I look it over.

I don't have a long term beta either, my experiences have been very hit and miss when it comes to working with betas.
