Canon review generally depends on the fandom I'm writing in at the time. For fandom I'm not too familiar with or only dip into occasionally I'll watch a few episodes to get a handle on it and for fandom I write regularly I just check for a quote or an episode title because I've goofed on ep titles a few times.

I've got some new fics finished, beta'd and am aiming to post those by Friday.
