Still a few minutes of Wednesday where I am! How's it been going today? (By the way, you guys have researched some fantastic things!)

Today, I've:

Typing versus longhand: does one method sometimes work better than the other? Does it depend on what you're doing? (For example: perhaps plotting or outlining goes better on paper?)

I wrote a snippet -- one of those times where I just make myself pick a prompt & start writing for it in 750 Words even though I'm NOT IN THE MOOD to write fic & have no ideas for the prompt. & pleasingly it was also one of those times where the snippet turned out to be more interesting than I feared; I may go back to it at some point.

I sent my main WIP to beta yesterday as well. Or... I dunno if it's beta strictly so much as first reader? There are huge chunks that need wordsmithing & I know it, & I don't want a line edit so much at this point as a general looking-over: should scenes x & y be pulled out (to potentially be developed into their own fic), etc.?

I pretty much never handwrite anything for fic, unless I'm in a meeting at work & suddenly get a plot point & then I'll scribble down 3 or 4 words. I type much faster & plus due to RSI-type stuff I'm much slower & clumsier at handwriting than I used to be!

I was able to finish grammar edit my slashfest fic and had send it to my beta. No new words today as after that I promised a friend I would help her brainstorm a story of hers and so I was busy looking through canon material that relates to the story she'll be writing, haha.

I used to write my stories longhand when I didn't have a computer, but now I type all my stories. I tend to change lines on the fly, so typing is much better for me that way. The plotting I would write down ideas longhand and then if I get a general idea how I'll put the ideas together I'll type a rough outline of the story.

I write a ~600 words fic for kink_bingo and 500 words for my wip.

I like to brainstorm idea in long hand but now all my stories are typed.

I actually put down ideas for a dozen ficlets last night, which was most encouraging. Not sure they're all necessarily worth writing up, but I should get several out of them, which is most gratifying.

These days I usually type my stories, including any outlining I may do - I don't, often - but at times I've turned off the computer and have to deal with longhand. Occasionally I have actually produced quite a bit of story in bed, on paper, and I once wrote a sonnet while we were at a university which my son was inspecting prior to making his applications. But still, these days I mostly type. I can type faster than I can write.

I didn't do any writing yesterday, but I did beta read for a friend.

I was going to last night but realized I'd left my thumb drive plugged into my work PC. So I did some Internet research instead.

I did finish reading a book however, so now I can back to revising mode.

I rarely write longhand, unless I'm outside where I can't take my laptop or it's too bright to see the screen to see what I'm writing.

I haven't opened my writing folder on my desktop all week. And there's no hope of getting any writing done until at least Sunday. It's that kind of a week. :-(

Long hand is helpful for me for short spurts (like when I'm in a meeting or only have a short amount of time to work up some ideas). It seems to be most helpful when I'm trying to figure out how to start out, or in working up conversations. Typing seems to work best for me for really getting the flow of writing, though; I seem to compose better while typing. It's also neater -- when I write any large amount long hand it gets really scribbly and goes all over the page trying to keep up with the flow of ideas!

I've only done a tiny bit of writing. I was at work today. And Wednesday was ... I can't even remember Wednesday. OH WAIT. I did a kink_bingo fill! Electricity! And chains! It was awesome! :D

I am still trying to find an AU big bang beta too. D: I srsly need to badger my friends a bit more. They can't all be that busy. ;_; If anyone here's reading this, and is interested in helping me out, lemme know. I want to get this sent off as soon as possible as second semester starts on August 1st, so the more work I can get done on this fic before uni starts, the better, which is why I kind of want to get a beta sorted as soon as possible, rather than at the last minute when I don't have the time to deal with it properly. And my fic needs a lot of work right now. D:

But of cours none of that matters because I HAVE A KITTEH NAO. 8D So expect no work from me for a while then while she settles in. XD

As for the question, it depends. I edit better on paper with a red pen, but I do more writing with a computer. If I get an idea and all I have is paper, I'll write a draft down, or maybe scribble some ideas, but most of my writing is done on the computer.
