It's time to sign up for the January WIP challenge! The previous month can be found here.

Some people join the challenge midmonth, or comment on check-in posts without signing up, which is fine -- I'm glad there's a way for the challenge to be useful in a variety of ways.

But for those of you who find the commitment of signing up useful, please leave a comment with the below information.

Signups will be open until the end of December.

• What you're looking for from the challenge: this could be as vague or specific as you like: someone to be accountable to, someone to remind you to write, someone to bounce ideas off, etc.

• Time zone: useful for seeing who might be up for a writing session at a time convenient to you

I couldn't continue to run this challenge without assistance with the daily check-in posts. Many thanks to everyone who's helped with the check-ins before!

Please let me know if you'd be interested in helping out. A week per person would be ideal (I usually assign weeks running Sunday-Saturday just for consistency). I'm happy to help come up with suggestions for discussion topics (& Friday or Saturday is usually the general chat/snippet/beta-seeking etc. post).

Level of challenge: 10,000 words in a month, but ... it's 2019, so I might start thinking of my goals a little differently.

Fandom(s) involved: Many and varied.

What you're looking for from the challenge: Routine. I've been here long enough that it's kind of a home, y'know?

What you could offer other participants yourself: Beta duty, cheerleading, and hosting.

Level of challenge: I just want to finish a chapter for once... and publish it (I have a very sad history of all my fics turning into drawerfic)

What you're looking for from the challenge: Accountability and the reminder to write, for the most part. If anyone wants to spitball plot points with me, that would be beyond wonderful, but I really don't expect it.

What you could offer other participants yourself: I would love to beta read other people's fics and bounce ideas, though I will be honest that I don't know a lot of fandoms very well.

How people should contact you: Dreamwidth PMs sound good to me!

What you're looking for from the challenge: Mostly accountability so I can build up the habit again since I haven't written anything for fun in like...8 months?

Level of challenge: Post 1 fic since I have a horrible habit of writing the first draft and then moving onto the next idea. I also want to write another fic because I've stalled out a bit the past month.

What you're looking for from the challenge: I haven't posted anything in a year, and before that it was another year, so my goal in 2019 is to post 1 fic every month. I'm hoping that these monthly challenges keep me motivated towards that goal.

What you're looking for from the challenge: Accountability! I want to be better about planning my writing out over weeks and months, rather than playing it eternally by ear.

What you could offer other participants yourself: I've got a good eye for grammar and am happy to do line edits for SPAG errors, so long as the work isn't personally triggering. It doesn't take me long; don't hesitate to reach out!
