Hello on Sunday!  It's a new week, with fresh opportunities for writing!  What kind of a writing day has it been so far today -- or if today hasn't gotten going yet, how did you fare yesterday?

I've gotten very little written the last week or so, other than helping with essays being written by students whom I am tutoring. I'm free of that for the foreseeable future, so now it's time to get back to my own fic! I'm still busy with other "life" things this week, but I writing emphasis will be to get back into my current chapter and make some good progress on it -- if not finish it!

Disappointed at the lack of reaction to my recent femslash emosmut after pouring my heart into it, but surprised and pleased at the amount of progress I've made in the last two days on a non-shippy, mostly gen, classic kind of crossover. In addition to working on said crossover, this week I'll be looking over my bunny list and deciding if I want to go with what will likely be the most popular, or what most tugs at my heartstrings.

There seems to be a lot of lack of reaction going around right now. I'm chalking it up to the holidays and keeping on writing.

ETA: Not that you asked, but when you look over your bunny list (never heard it called that before - love it!), I'd say go with what tugs at your heartstrings.

I'd almost forgotten about the holidays, probably because I have company so rarely these days, let alone family visiting. But I'm definitely satisfied with the emosmut no matter how little attention it gets.

(The likely-popular piece tugs at my heartstrings too, just not as much as the rest of them.)

I agree about writing what you're excited to write, especially when it comes to fanfic. Enjoy the process and don't worry about what others do or don't do once it's posted. It is a busy time of year for many so we all may see more activity in a few weeks.

Definitely. This particular bunny I started on a few days ago is going so well that I'm totally in the zone both in terms of writing output and in terms of being happy with it even if it gets no attention. And even my least popular stuff gets *some* hits. Guess I'm finding it easier to focus on the positive as I get older *snort* But seriously, I kind of felt like I'd forgotten how to write non-shippy gen stuff, and not only is this coming out almost effortlessly, it's got more of a plot than I've been able to string together in forever (short version: plot has never been my strong suit). So I'm gonna keep riding this puppy as long as I can, and see where it takes me, because so far it's been surprises all the way.

That sounds like a fun plot bunny; enjoy the ride! I'm back to fanfic after a 6 year hiatus and I've got so many ideas all demanding attention that I'm trying to get shit typed before I forget it. It's been fun digging back into characters I haven't talked to in so long.

My semester just ended Friday, so I'm just now getting down to writing this month. My goal for this week is to go back and pick up some of my past fics that I haven't updated in a while. I've apparently developed a bad habit of going after the shiny new fic, so I've left some of my older fics in the middle of things. (In one case at literally left two characters on a staircase between floors!)

It's only about 4:45pm, but I may be "taking a break" today. Hopefully I can get a little bit done later tonight, but I'm not feeling so hot today and I usually get some done at my lunch break ... today got nothing written.
