Hello, writers! What have you been able to accomplish today toward your January goal?

— I wrote today!
— I planned and/or researched something.
— I sat down and did some editing.
— I sent things to my beta.
— I posted!
— I focused on something else today.

Writing question time: What period of life do you find yourself writing about most often (child, teenager, young adult)?

Also, I hope no one minds me placing this here, but the Needy Stocking List at [community profile] fandom_stocking has gone live, and there is quite a list of fandoms and interests represented (and a lot of empty stockings!). If you can, please head over and take a look at the prompts to see if you might be able to complete a small treat for someone. Sharing the link is also helpful. Thanks!

Instead of any others, I wrote on the one WIP I least expected to. I'm going to try instituting a new rule on a trial basis where every writing day absolutely must include all current WIPs, no matter how small the progress.

Given the majority of my fics are and continue to be in the Buffyverse, that's mostly teens and twenty-somethings. Outside of that I tend toward adults and late teens, and can't recall ever doing kidfic.

That is indeed my current and usual curse, ideas in abundance. Or bunnies, anyway. The trial rule went well today because it resulted in progress on the current WIP that hasn't been worked on in the longest amount of time (couple of weeks). Here's to keeping it rolling, to whatever degree I can manage.

Have done some writing today and then did a bit of researching on a random non fandom based thing.

For the writing question, I think its mostly a mix of every stage depending on what the series medium that I'm writing in and researching in.

I wrote about 700 words today to start my next WIP chapter. That's not a lot, but it got me past a difficult section! The next section is tricky, too; I may go ahead and try writing some more, since I have time today.

The majority of my characters are adults, though I have written a few pieces that involved children.

I've spent some time plotting the next chapter. I working on moving the story forward in different patterns and combinations of characters, trying to keep up the pace while telling the most story and not wasting words on trivial details. I posted an already completed story to Dreamwidth today, my first full short story here.

I tend to write characters in their adult years. I also focus on people who have significant mental health issues. So my main character has auditory hallucinations.

Hello. I'm working on a fanfiction story. I'm fairly new at this. I did write and finish a long story that I think I lost control of it but finished it! A little more focus this time around, I learned through trial and error on the first one. I really enjoy dealing with psychological issues in my stories, I try to give a well-rounded representation.

(No harm in that advertising. Elves are always needed.)

I missed the post for yesterday, but, to be fair, I did not write yesterday. I got my page set up for it, but I ended up staring at it and not writing. But! I did write and post that story today, so there is that. I have reached 5,000 words for the month so far, half of my goal. So far, so good.

For the question: Because my fandoms are anime / manga, JRPGs, and the like, my characters tend to skew a bit young, but, in response, I tend to write stories that are post-canon so that they can fall more into the 'young adult' category.
