Happy Monday! How's writing?
-Wrote something, woo!
-Planning, outlining, note taking, research, etc.
-Editing
-Sent something to my beta
-It's done! I posted!
-Thought about writing
-Taking a day off
-Something else (discuss in comments)
Monday Discussion: What do you do when you don't like what you're writing? Scrap it and start over? Edit and revise? Keep going and hope it starts working out better?

Date: Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019 03:06 (UTC)I am generally the messy type of writer to start endlessly revising in the middle of the piece if I don't like how it's turning out, but I rarely scrap something unless I totally lose all interest in the plot.

Date: Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019 04:06 (UTC)As for what I do when I don't like my writing, it depends what I don't like about it. If I really like the theme and some of my lines and it's only part of the piece I hate, I'll edit until it makes me happy, or skip over it, write the rest, and go back and fill it in once it's working. If it's the whole thing that just isn't working, I'll scrap it and try again later.

Date: Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019 13:36 (UTC)If I have trouble with the words, I tend not to scrap them, I look at them from different angles to see if they're a problem because of POV or structure or word choice.

Date: Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019 14:20 (UTC)It is very rare for me to actively dislike a piece I am writing. After all, if I started doing it in the first place, that means I at least liked the idea behind it. It has happened before, though, and, in those instances, I tend to scrap it and restart at a different time.
