Today I got a few things done:

1. drafted a bit more of my [community profile] chocolateboxcomm assignment. Plot #3 seems to be the right one, so now I just need to get it written! I’d like to have the first draft finished by the weekend.
2. beta’d chapter nine for my co-author
3. looked over her notes for chapter two of my FMA chapter fic. I’d like to post chapter two in February, and then sign up for [community profile] wipbigbang to finish the remaining three chapters.

I would have liked to get more written than I did for chocolaltebox, but after all the starts and stops I’m glad that this now feels right and that I can finish it in time.

I've started planning/some sample writing for a crossover based on a detailed half-discussion half-RP with a friend! I've never written either of these characters, and it has extremely niche appeal at best, but I think it's got a decent foundation and could be interesting.

As for what I do when I don't like my writing, it depends what I don't like about it. If I really like the theme and some of my lines and it's only part of the piece I hate, I'll edit until it makes me happy, or skip over it, write the rest, and go back and fill it in once it's working. If it's the whole thing that just isn't working, I'll scrap it and try again later.

Instead of any of the current batch, I reached further into the past and dredged up a half-outlined crossover, which within moments turned into actual writing. I was wondering which to work on next, so looks like this will be it.

At the sentence and paragraph level, lately I'm much more quick to scrap and start over than I used to be, and it seems to be working well.

Yesterday I spent more time planning and decision-making. It was fruitful time spent, because I think I finally see my way forward. I may not be able to have writing time today, but hopefully when I do sit down with my writing, I can actually start a new chapter now.

I pushed through the final draft of a chapter on Monday. I'll keep working on it today. Emotional chapter, nuanced exchanges so the words came very slowly. Hoping to finish the chapter today and post by the evening.

If I have trouble with the words, I tend not to scrap them, I look at them from different angles to see if they're a problem because of POV or structure or word choice.

I wrote a little for Monday, but I got a good chuckle from the results, so there is that.

It is very rare for me to actively dislike a piece I am writing. After all, if I started doing it in the first place, that means I at least liked the idea behind it. It has happened before, though, and, in those instances, I tend to scrap it and restart at a different time.

Forgot to check in, but no writing happened on this day as I had a drive back home to deal with and some night out plans for birthday.
