Haven't got any fic actually done, had a couple of good conversations about ideas I've had... and was hit with the dawning realisation that I've now gone a day shy of two weeks writing Daily Card blurbs for our Tarot & Cartomancy server.

Which is the most consistent I've been about writing since my first year in art school. Wild.

I'm one of those people who's really bad at writing, because I keep drifting off to talking about my writing instead of writing the writing I'm supposed to be writing. Put together, all the explaining of stories I've done over the years probably account for at least a third of all the writing I've ever done.

Wrote 1/3 of a chapter yesterday - 988 words. I'm less than 1000 words away from where I should be in writing by the end of February.

I'm still working on learning how to skip time - if the next significant event doesn't happen for 3 weeks, how to skip over those three weeks without just starting the next section "Three weeks later. . . "

Finished and posted the last chapter of my Dragon Maid fic. So far this month I've posted six stories with a total of just over 46,000 words. If I'd written Faith the Vampire Slayer at this rate, I'd have completed two episodes every month. But I'm not bitter about lessons sorely learned, oh no.

The lesson being: Don't let the unattainable perfect be the enemy of good enough. Better to publish than perish. When you find yourself agonizing over word choices and punctuation, relax, take a break, and try a different approach.

If I have not already said so, welcome to Dragon Maid fandom. :-) It is one of the kinder and gentler yuri fandoms in the mix. And it has dragons! What's not to love?

My FtVS co-conspirator had been bugging me to watch it for a couple of years, but I only just watched it last week. Now I'm reading volume 6 of the manga and it's pretty clear this pairing is my new obsession.

I posted two stories today for a total of 1,300+ words. This helps to make up for a week that was otherwise unproductive. ... But I dipped a toe into Rick and Morty fandom for one of those stories, so it is possible that I may be damned. LOL.

As far as writing in general goes, a recurring issue I am starting to notice in my writing, since I have done so many stories over the years, is that characters in different stories get together in similar ways. Which is a nice way of saying that I have a tendency to repeat myself. I have to be wary of that.

I wrote some things along with doing a bit of research as well, but also watched a few videos.

Today I did a bunch of editing for someone else. I don't know if I'll get any of my own writing done this weekend; weekends are usually not very productive for me in writing so I'm okay with whatever I get done, even if it's zilch.
