Apologies for the early post today, but I will not be able to get online this evening. What have you been doing?

— Thinking. Maybe a little, maybe a lot.
— Writing.
— Planning and / or researching.
— Editing.
— Sending things to the beta.
— Posting!
— Relaxing, taking a break, etc.
— Other stuff-ing. Look at the comment.

Question: Do you have any stories that you know, in your heart, will never be finished?

I had all kinds of free time this week with everything being cancelled due to the deep freeze we are in -- but I couldn't seem to get my writing going. So I'm taking a break again today. I bet I'll be back on track once my routine returns; sometimes having multiple days off messes me up and I can't get anything done!

Yes, I have one that I know will not be written, which is not even really started (even though I've had the idea for years). There is another that seems atm like it will never be finished, but I won't consign it to that category just yet!

Funny enough I also have a weird day today, so I just finished typing up the chapter I wanted to finish this week. I will likely hold onto it and read it again tomorrow before sending to beta. I also added some notes to my outline and typed up a scene for my other WIP. Woo!

Have done some thinking, a little bit of writing, posting said writing, and a bit of other stuffing today.

Last night I'd already made unexpected progress on the Daria screenplay, then out of nowhere made progress on a MMORPG-based fic, including a good deal of backstory for the previously cardboard narrator. The idea's been kicking around for a few years, but lately it's been seeing actual writing and not just outlining.

I keep stories in the 'half baked ideas' directory as long as I can. But I've learned the hard way to never delete anything, so even when I've reached the point where I know in my heart it'll never go anywhere, I move it to 'moribund'. Because you never know what you might be able to mine for ideas later down the road, and because it's always good to have a record of your failures as well as your successes. After all, you (ideally) learn from both.

Mostly editing, but I added some words in the process.

Mostly like I have many stories that will never be finished - I've changed platforms too much and have too many WIPs to remember, especially if I'm not in the fandom anymore.

Thinking about the next chapter. By the time I get home from work, do the home stuff, I'm exhausted and can barely think to write. I try to research, read through what's written but it's hard to be creative when I'm tired.

I'm increasingly afraid many stories won't be finished since it takes so much to get a story done. I have ideas and scenes but when I open the document I stare at the blank page. Then the anxiety kicks in to keep the words from coming out. I'm trying to find my way through this. I really want to write.

Despite having plenty of time today, I didn't write anything. I didn't even do that much thinking. I guess sometimes you just need a day off.

I've got stories that it seems like they'll never be finished because I've fallen in love with the characters so I can't bring myself to end them. Fortunately, they're structured as slice of life so I can just keep them going as long as it pleases me, introducing new problems as old ones get solved.
