Even though I'm not sleeping in, I hope you did, whatever your time zone. I had a kiss on the brain (not mine, a character's) and had to get up and write it down.
But whenever you awoke, I hope you had a chance to do something on your fic today.
Tell us what you accomplished today...
Discussion question...what's the most number of WIPs you've actively juggled at one time? Do you normally work on more than fic/story at one time? If so, what's the average number?

Date: Saturday, July 30th, 2011 13:29 (UTC)I think the most WIP's I've actively juggled at one time was 5 -- and that was earlier this summer when I got myself involved in several challenges in addition to my usual 3 that have been sitting on the back burner for a bit. I would say my average is 3, which are the three multi-chapter things I've been working on for some time now, each in turn as the whim takes me (or doesn't). I am almost always working on more than one fic at one time, though in some cases, they are from the same fandom and so it's not too difficult to jump from fic to fic.

It's being run past some betas and then I have to post it to the queue, but it is most definitely finished.
Many, many thanks to this community, it's been an unimaginable blessing to me in keeping me on track with my writing! \o/

Date: Saturday, July 30th, 2011 16:01 (UTC)It's not necessarily all WIPs I'm juggling, but there's usually one major project, maybe two, and a bunch of other one-shots at the same time. And that when I'm not at uni and don't have assignments to do. D:
...It's any wonder I get anything done, actually, when I think about it. o.o

Date: Saturday, July 30th, 2011 19:44 (UTC)I always work on more than one story at a time. Sometimes some may be on the back burner a bit but I've always got at least two. At the moment my focus on! folder has my big bang, one way overdue fest fic and 6 kink bingo fills. My general in progress folder (which is very much on the back burner just now) has ehm, 25 fics in progress.
Oh dear lord, I didn't realise I had quite that many. *facepalm*

Date: Saturday, July 30th, 2011 20:39 (UTC)I also wrote a snippet for what's going to be the third part of the series that the two fics above will be part of. Er, I mean if I ever manage to get anywhere w/this third part. More actual plot, oh noes!
I usually have 4 or 5 WIPs going on at once, I think, but they all tend to be at various stages of completion. So if I only have the brain to hammer out tons of words for the Shitty First Draft, I'll try to have a WIP that still needs that kind of work. & when I'm in the mood for close editing, I have something that needs that, etc. Also, if one of the WIPs is really making me frustrated, I can hopefully work on something I feel more positive about, & get some distance from the hard one in order to go back to it fresh.

Date: Saturday, July 30th, 2011 20:41 (UTC)Now I have some peace and quiet so I'm going to piddle. I don't think I have the mental capacity right now to write much. But I can actually write some decent stuff when I'm sleepy--most of the "walls" between right brain and left brain are soft or porous and so the inhibitions are lowered and the ideas flow freely.
I think the most number of fics I juggled at once was probably 6 or 7 and most of them were probably fairly short.
Generally, I probably juggle two or three stories at once.

Date: Sunday, July 31st, 2011 04:36 (UTC)As to juggling WIPs... I basically have an insane number of partially-finished stories, and I may skip to any one of them (or start a new one) at any time, depending. When I'm actively writing, though, I'm normally focusing on just one story for several days at a time, so I don't "juggle" in that sense.

Date: Sunday, July 31st, 2011 06:06 (UTC)I think the most WIP I actively juggled is three, which would usually be either three short stories or two short stories and one long/chaptered fic. There might be times where I'll have like five stories I started out of the blue, but I then would focus only on finishing two or three of them first and such.

Date: Sunday, July 31st, 2011 09:13 (UTC)I don't think I've ever been working on more than one fic at a time. I generallly don't write all that much, and if I write, I like to stick to one story.

Date: Sunday, July 31st, 2011 17:43 (UTC)I've got one WIP in the bin, half done, and it just *refuses* to cooperate. Ugh.
Mostly WIPs I've juggled at one time? I think maybe 3. Generally I just work on one thing at a time, so I can keep myself focused.
