The middle of the week is a bit like a teeter-totter. You're sitting on one side, and the weekend is on the other. What have you been doing?

— Thinking. Maybe a little, maybe a lot.
— Writing.
— Planning and / or researching.
— Editing.
— Sending things to the beta.
— Posting!
— Relaxing, taking a break, etc.
— Other stuff-ing. Look at the comment.

Question: Do you write more quickly as you get closer to the end of a story, or do you start off quickly and then slow down?

I've been doing lots of Real Life Work stuff, barely thinking about writing. My weekend starts tomorrow, and while I intend to do some writing in an attempt to finish off the month on a positive note, we'll see if I actually manage it!

I think I must start off quickly and slow down, because I have only managed to finish one of several WIPs, and finishing that one took forever, even though it was almost done!

I've been trying to deal with a massive pile of books I picked up leftover from a community garage sale, visitors we've had staying for a few days, and creating worksheets for my one student… Writing is still at the back of my mind. :/

Usually the latter - but my Yuletide story this last year was the reverse, mostly because I had sorted all of it out by that point and I wanted to be done writing it, so I spent more time each day. The last weekend I think I wrote 5k over the whole weekend, just trying to finish it.

Usually I wind up writing fairly quickly at the beginning and the end--it's the middle where I get bogged down. The fic I'm working on now is at a rough spot in the middle. I know once I get past this section, it'll go faster once again since I have the ending and the epilogue worked out.

So yeah, today I am making myself write--even if it's only a paragraph or two.
