Hello on Thursday! What kind of a writing day has it been so far today -- or if today hasn't gotten going yet, how did you fare yesterday?
- I thought about my fic once or twice
- I wrote
- I did some planning and/or outlining
- I did research and/or canon review
- I edited
- I've sent my fic off to my beta
- I posted today!
- I'm taking a break
- I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment
Thursday Discussion: Today is a holiday in the U.S. Do you include holidays in your writing, or write holiday-specific stories?

Date: Thursday, July 4th, 2019 14:24 (UTC)I don't often include holidays in my writing, unless it is for a challenge that involves a specific holiday -- usually Christmas/Yule or the New Year.

Date: Thursday, July 4th, 2019 14:44 (UTC)I occasionally include holidays, but it's probably only if someone requested it, or if I decide to write a Christmas fic gift for someone, or have signed up for a Valentine's fic fest or something.

Date: Thursday, July 4th, 2019 17:40 (UTC)I include references or themes from Jewish holidays when I'm writing for Purimgifts, but otherwise I probably wouldn't include a holiday unless I had a specific plot-related reason for it. Most of my canons are sci-fi/fantasy, anyway, and don't have the same real-world holidays.

Date: Thursday, July 4th, 2019 22:07 (UTC)I rarely write holidays (though obviously I write *on* holidays - this was the perfect opportunity to get the assignment done); it's just not a real interest of mine. But I did write a Valentine's day fic once as a gift for a friend - not part of an exchange, she was just feeling bummed because she didn't have a boyfriend and wanted one, so I wrote her a friendship fic wherein a character was also bummed about Valentine's day but friends made it better, in a fandom she loved to make her happy, lol. (It worked.)
