Writing Question:
Only semi-related to writing today, but I just spent an inordinate amount of time dealing with a computer problem, and most of us write on our computers, so how often do you back up your work, and what is your preferred method of doing so?

I added some scenes that I'd already outlined to a fic and did some minor editing.

I'm going to say Not Yet, and hope that I actually get a chance to open my WIP folder and do something with it!

Sorry about your computer problem! Because I've had a couple of close calls myself, I back up frequently. I have a second hard drive in my computer where I save duplicate copies of my writing folders, and I also save those folders to 2 separate flash drives (which are also useful for when I am traveling and don't have my own computer). I save the chapters I'm currently working on to Dropbox so I have access to them anywhere, and I back up my entire computer once a week to an external back up drive. It works pretty well, as long as I remember to copy the most recent work to the separate drive and the flash drives! I should probably set up a schedule for that...

I wrote and met another deadline. The wheels seem to be grinding back into motion. This is going to be a difficult week, and I doubt you all will see much of me here until it is done, but this is not a bad way to start it off, IMO. :-)

As for backing up my work, the nice thing about RTFs, TXTs, and the like is that they are small. I have back-ups of my stories, not only on Dreamwidth, but on flash drives, on CD-Rs, on one old external hard drive, even on an aged 5.25" floppy disk (... it's an old story). I have lost work before, and it pained me enough that I have back-ups upon back-ups.

I wrote yesterday! Was too busy to get to posting about it, so I'll post now - because I'm working on work-related stuff. But yesterday I decided to start on my MFTF assignment and I got just under 400 words started and an outline in my head, so I'm happy that it's getting somewhere.

The rest of the week, we'll see - I probably only really have time to write on Sundays, but next Sunday I plan on tackling it with a vengeance, see if I can't get most of this assignment done. 2k minimums are harder for me - my story ideas tend to come out in the 1-2k range - but I think this one I can make 2k easily enough.
