Just posted Ganbatte, or Auntie Kinue Does Her Best (G, Kill la Kill, 2,013 words). Been plowing ahead on Dexter/Buffy and more of the action and emotional beats are becoming clearer to me. Semi freaking out because it looks like I have arthritis. Getting old ain't for sissies.

From my upcoming Dexter/Buffy chapter, making fun of my own running gag where Dexter calls people out for swearing:

"Gee Dex, try not to stroke my ego too much."

"Not to impugn your detecting skills." I hold up both hands, showing her my metaphorical belly. Anything past a certain point with Deb usually provokes a defensive reaction. The kind of defense that's a very strong offense. "But it does seem like a stretch."

"Tell you what." She pokes me in the side. "Feed me dinner, and you can let that rabid imagination run wild."

"You buy the steaks." I present it as a done deal rather than a command. "Astor's teenage appetite is going through another growth spurt."

"Done." She grins in that goofy lopsided way, reaching out to open my office door. "After you, Sir Fucknut."

I deposit my clipboard on the desk and myself in the chair. "I believe that would be Sir Fuck of Nut."

"Whoa." Both of her eyebrows rocket skyward. "Triple word score for Mister Clean."
