... but before I get to that, just a reminder that we have a collection on AO3 of fics that have been completed through the WIP challenge -- please do add yours in! If you need AO3 invites, let me know.

& back to the subject of this post: sign-ups are now open for September's WIP challenge.

Some people join the challenge midmonth, or comment on check-in posts without signing up. That's fine, too -- I'm glad there's a way for the challenge to be useful in a variety of ways!

But for those of you who find the commitment of officially signing up useful, please sign up as below.

Signups will be open until the end of August.

  • Level of challenge: 1 chapter, 1000 words, 1 fic finished, whatever you like
  • Fandom(s) involved: if you know at this point
  • What you're looking for from the challenge: this could be as vague or specific as you like: someone to be accountable to, someone to remind you to write, someone to bounce ideas off, etc.
  • What you could offer other participants yourself: ditto!
  • How people should contact you: DW message, e-mail, IM etc.
  • Time zone: useful for seeing who might be up for a writing session at a time convenient to you

Copypaste below:

I couldn't continue to run this challenge without assistance with the daily check-in posts. Many thanks to everyone who's helped with the check-ins before!

Please let me know if you'd be interested in helping out. A week per person would be ideal, if possible (I usually assign weeks running Sunday-Saturday just for consistency, but if that's difficult let me know). I'm happy to help come up with suggestions for discussion topics or other things to do for the check-ins if need be. Just let me know if you're interested. Thanks!

(I definitely could use someone for the first week of September -- I'm moving in a week & I'm not sure when I'll have internet access at the new place.)

Level of challenge: I dunno at this point. Nothing specific. Just writing everyday I think. Let me say 500 words a day.

Fandom(s) involved: Harry Potter & original fic

What you're looking for from the challenge: just accountability for everyday.

What you could offer other participants yourself: I've said company in the past. That never seems to work out for some reason, but I offer it again just the same. :) If schedules mesh, I'll do it.

How people should contact you: PM is fine.

Time zone: UTC+6

And as always, I can manage check-in posts, just let me know when you need me the most. I could probably handle two weeks this month if you really need me to.

I failed to make any writing progress in August, so I'm going to stick with the same goals for September. Everything I have left to work on is a long term project anyway!

I am happy to continue helping with check in posts. It makes sense that, since I am doing the last few days of August, I should continue on into September and make it a full week. Unless someone else desperately wants the first week of September, why don't you give it to me? I can also fill in again later in the month if you run short of volunteers.

I'm not sure if I'm crazy or not, but I just requested a prompt for a challenge that is due mid-September, so I guess I'll be adding that to my goals for the month. I am hopeful having something new (and short-term) will jog my dormant writing brain back into action, after which I can get back to work on my long term writing goals!
