Writing question time: What would you say is an interesting quirk about your writing?

Today I hope to get another 30 minutes or more complete on my sketch. Unfortunately, I reread the excerpt I'm illustrating and realized that the positioning I drew is inaccurate LOL so I have to try and rework it toward something more in line with the text.

I tend to describe small actions a lot, which may be a habit from RP.

I switched tracks and did a lot of prep work for sunshine_challenge, so I'm now ahead of pace there, which is nice. I will pick up the sketch pad again tomorrow and see if I can salvage the first sketch or if I need to start over.

I did some research and outlining (writing plotty stories is hard), and a couple minutes of actual writing.

I'm not sure it counts as a quirk but I usually have at least two, if not more, alternating POVs, rather than picking one character and sticking with them.

Plotting can be even more time consuming than actually drafting! I run a few D&D campaigns and I essentially am plotting interactive novels for each party to develop.

Not everyone can use multiple POVs effectively, so that's kind of cool how you are so comfortable in that space that it's something known about your writing.

I edited my completed WIP chapter one more time and posted it, yay! Now I'm making notes for the next one.

I tend to use alternating POV with a number of characters besides my main character. Also, many of my characters speak without using contractions.

Oh that's interesting about the lack of contractions in dialogue. Is there a certain setting you tend to write in where that's more prevalent? On review I do have a character I often write in that way myself (he's a foreigner so his language tends to be more textbook formal than most others).

The setting is such that most people speak rather formally, so it's easy to make them sound formal simply by not using contractions!

Work, work, work. So much work. Too much work. Not enough writing. I need to recharge my batteries. x_x

My favorite quirk – though I regard this as a glitch, not a quirk – is the Missing Word Bug. I type a sentence, and, to my eye, the sentence is complete, but there is a word missing that I do not catch, even after multiple passes through editing. Aggravating! But it has been a "feature" of my writing since I started.

I know that feeling all too well. I hope you manage to get ahead on work projects soon so you can take things down a notch.
