Discussion: Collaborating. Do you ever co-write a fic? Make art for big bangs and other challenges? Do you prefer flying solo?

(Yes I forgot to have a question for yesterday, I'm totally blaming the new job I started on Monday for my lack of brain there.)

I've done a co-write once with a friend and I might be working with them again on their big bang fic as an artist.

Not a lot of writing done this week at all, not even editing and I need to look through stuff too. Hopefully I'll find a routine once my regular hours settle down and when I've done all of the various new start related tasks and paperwork that is.

I usually like to work solo, but the few times I've collaborated, it's been fun. I collaborated when I was doing a big bang challenge -- someone else did the art and I did the writing, but I had another author helping me as a cheerleader. Another time I was involved in a Round Robin Challenge with a number of other authors, where we each wrote a part of several stories that all started off with the same opening paragraph. That was fun, too!

The planning continues.

I have helped to co-write stories before, but it never seems to work out. The other person always disappears without explanation, or they just flat-out flake and fail to deliver. Since then, I write solo, but I make exceptions for 'shared universe' situations where we have multiple writers planning in the same 'fic continuity.

I generally don't co-write or collaborate much because I am very bad at deadlines.

I didn't get any writing done, I wasn't feeling very well today and needed to get some chores done.
