WIP Challenge Check-in -- Day 28 (Sunday)

I'm getting  a slow start on my week of check-in posts here, oops.  Had a family reunion today and they tend to go longer than planned for or expected.  ;-)  But it's still Sunday where I am, thankfully!

We have a few days left in August, but I'm going to jump the gun a bit and ask some end of the month type questions to get us going on our new week of writing. I'm wondering how you are feeling about your writing during the month of August?  How did it go for you?

Has it been:

• a good month?
• a not-so-bad month?
• a difficult month?
• a let's start over in September and forget August ever happened month?

Have you reached any of your August writing goals, or did you accomplish something new that came up midstream and became a new goal for you?  Do you anticipate doing anything different with your writing in September?

I'm going with the fourth choice on this one, because August was pretty much non-existent for me as far as writing goes. Between recovering from the push to finish up my Big Bang on time in July and one of the worst months ever for RL busyness, I accomplished very little. Some research for an elusive fic that wants to be written some day, some final editing touches on my Big Bang, and some posting of already written chapters at a couple of archives is all I managed. But I'm hopeful that September will be better for me, and that the last couple of days of August will give me a running start on next month.

I haven't accomplished any of my August goals yet, but who knows -- if all goes well in the next day or two, I might still be able to do one of them! ;-)

Over all, August was pretty good, writing-wise, especially this past week or so. I spewed over 12K on a single fic and I'm still going. :)

My August goal, however, (whatever it was) was not reached though. :)

Over all, I only write four fics in this month. Still haven't reach the writing goal. Sigh

I wanted to get a huge amount of writing done in August, but after two years of being constantly short on time because of school, I forgot that time isn't the only constraint to writing. So, I didn't write all the words to all the stories. I didn't finish a big, epic WIP, like I'd hoped. I didn't write all the anonymous fic I wanted. I didn't solve one very stubborn conflict that hits a little close.

However, last night I wrote ~1800 words on a WIP that is, as of this moment, 66 pages long. It is possibly the farthest I've ever gotten on a project this ambitious. Even though each chapter seems to pull the projected ending a little farther away, I feel pretty good about it. Looking back, I can't believe I thought I could write three chapters a week in August. WTF, self?

Good month! Love of new fandom still going strong. And I got a ficlet done in the middle of the night last night when I couldn't sleep.

I hope September will be as profitable in words.

Definitely a good month for me! 33,500 words - the final 2 chapters of a pre-existing WIP, two small pieces, and 11 chapters of the new WIP. So I'll mark August down as a "win."

Since my goal for August was just to keep writing, I'd say I succeeded. Will I do anything different in September? I'd like to finish the current WIP (hoping to wind that up over the holiday weekend). Then I'll look at my bunny list and see what looks attractive.

Hope September is a successful month for everyone at the comm, and that nobody got hammered too badly by the hurricane! (Me, just a little water in the basement, and a leak on the porch.)

August never happened. Life got in the way far too much as did the 3 trips to England for various things and of course packing for my move which is in less than 2 weeks.

Didn't reach any of goals at all :( but I did manage to write a drabble on one of the long train journeys from Aberdeen so that's something I guess, even though I haven't had time to look at it since. Have also been adding bits and bats to a ficlet too but that's going on hold for now because I need to watch the episode it's for again and my dvds are packed away.

For September I'm just going to go with it, even though it's going to be another hectic month with my mum and step-dad coming up for a visit, moving, then going back to uni at the end of the month after taking a year off from my course. Busy.

I was on holidays for a big part of August, but I reached my tentative goal of finishing the first draft of a WIP before theholidays, and I even had some time left for reading up on related stuff, taking lost of notes and starting to edit a little.

September will definitely be different because I'll be editing.

Mmh, it's been a funny month. Other than last week, I've been writing pretty consistently, which is good. I haven't got much closer to my goals, though, which is not so good. I'll try again next month.

Hahah, this is such a late reply, but I finally got the big project mostly organized today and found that it was about 22.5K words. I'd been aiming for 25K, and thought I was no where near that, so it was a pleasant surprise! Beside that, not a lot of progress. I did some silly things that never quite came to fruition, and I didn't get to post the chapter of the one WIP I really wanted to update... so overall, I'd say "okay".

I'm studying for a certain exam, so I'm not sure how much more productive I'll be next month, so I'll just have to play it by ear!

I too am totally late, but was busy/distracted by many things, haha. Overall I think this month had been a good writing month despite me busy and sorting out some things. I had written some of my Big Bang as planned for this month and also did several shorter stories too. I wasn't able to do my second slashfest fic (which I probably won't due to having no idea how I should write it *sigh*) and my help_japan fic (still haven't sit down to think over the story). Besides writing, also did quite a bit of editing so that's something too.

For September I anticipate I'll mostly just focus on my Big Bang and perhaps see if I'll get my butt off and plan my help_japan fic.

I set the bar very low for August - after having set it too high for June - so, no problem. I'll try to find the happy medium for September.

Wrote lots in the margin as revising and sent another part for betaing. Still wondering who I'm going to land the lot on though for the last read before I post (there's quite a few dormant 'Hikago' writers but I'm a bit shy to go poking them for a beta read, a lot of them might have 'grown out of it').
