[personal profile] linaewen posting in [community profile] writethisfanfic
Hello at the end of the week!  I am very sorry I have not done any check ins since Sunday -- I've been doing vacation things and totally forgot about keeping up with this!  My apologies!  Anyway, looking back at the day today -- or yesterday, if today hasn't gotten going yet -- how did it go?

   - I thought about my fic once or twice
   - I wrote
   - I did some planning and/or research
   - I edited
   - I've sent my fic off to my beta
   - I posted today!
   - I'm taking a break
   - I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

Looking forward, how are you planning to spend your weekend?

   - I'm going to make up for not writing all week by having a writing marathon
   - I'm going to keep writing at my current rate and see how it goes
   - I have other plans, but I might have time to get some writing in
   - I'm going to take a break from writing

Today I thought about my fic once or twice. Yesterday I wrote a fic that could be a one-short or could be the first chapter of a longer story. I posted it last night and today I've been reading comments and trying to decide what I want to do with it.

Over the weekend I'll probably write at my current pace - my current goal is to write at least 500 words a day, but sometimes I'll get on a roll and turn out 2000 words in a day.

I'm currently 5,000 words into my final chapter less the epilogue on a story I started planning just over 30 days ago. Just passed the 100,000 word mark, for an average of over 3,000 words a day and a total this year of about 140,000 including the second half of the first book in this now-series. And while the speed alone makes me giddy -- faster than I've ever managed before in my life for more than a day or two at a time -- the writing itself is, while not entirely consistent, some of my best ever in terms of both prose and plot. In my humble opinion.

I plan to keep up this pace all weekend and hopefully finish the book, at which point I'll take at least a week or two off, maybe a month or two. I'll use that time to work on the outline for the last book in the trilogy, as well as see what I can get done on one or two other projects that have fallen by the wayside since this grabbed hold of my imagination and wouldn't let go. I certainly could wish it was getting more attention, but the few comments it's gotten have been gratifyingly positive. And what more can I say but "back to the grind"?

No writing today, but last night I did some plotting with my alpha reader, and this week I've added a few hundred words to a giftbox fill I'm working on. (Mostly, Yahoo Groups is still sucking up all my free time, lol.)
