Not only is it Day 2 of the new month, but it's Friday! It's always nice to have it be Friday. ;-)
So how is for you on this Friday? How is your time being occupied?

- writing (want to share a word count?)
- planning (brainstorming, researching, outlining)
- editing
- posting
- taking a break
- reading someone else's writing
- dealing with non-writing things on your To Do List

Date: Friday, September 2nd, 2011 22:25 (UTC)I have a pretty flexible work schedule, and often work from home, so I have lots of opportunity to write, even if it's not in long stretches of time. I used to write best in the evenings because that was when I was free from work and had some time to myself -- but lately I've been too tired after busy days to feel like being creative at night. Mornings are turning out to be better -- if I actually start writing instead of dealing with this and that and then finding my morning has gone and it's time to leave the house. I also used to be quite good at writing on the go -- all I needed was a scrap of paper or a notepad in my pocket and I could write a bit of something wherever I happened to be. Now I seem to not be able to get my brain in gear unless I am sitting in front of my computer. It would be nice to get back that freedom to write no matter where I am!

Date: Friday, September 2nd, 2011 22:36 (UTC)I wrote about 800 words today, which was nice, as it wast the first time in just over a week (since I moved last Friday). Nothing keepable, I think, but still, they're fic, so yay.
I might write better in the morning but I never seem to write in the morning! I tend to write in the evenings after I've had a chance to unwind from work. I think I need to be sitting at the computer as well; being someplace else to write I think would likely distract me. :/

Date: Friday, September 2nd, 2011 22:40 (UTC)Discussion topic - Definitely evening. As with anything creative - I tend to get a burst of energy just when I'm supposed to be going to bed. And mornings aren't really my thing at all. Funnily enough, I also write best away from home. Or, not so much away from home as while traveling - I always seem to be inspired when I'm on the bus, so I try to use buses as much as possible as opposed to going by bike or getting driven or whatever.

Date: Friday, September 2nd, 2011 23:18 (UTC)The later it gets, the more easily I write. In the mornings, I don't have any words in me at all.

Date: Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 01:32 (UTC)I finished it last year for mini-nano and spent until May making tweaks and revisions. (It's over 25+ words). In July it was published in the Con*strict zine. I posted it after I was sure that supporting members' copies had reached them.
Beyond that? I think I'll rest up and then start typing up (2nd drafting) the story I finished a day or so ago.

Date: Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 02:00 (UTC)I definitely write better in the morning. I'm very much a morning person - my energy level is higher, and it seems to be easier to get my brain in gear. I *can* write later on in the day, but if I'm tired or stressed, it's tough to get the mojo together.
As far as location - I seem to do okay in a variety of locations; it's more state of mind that affects my ability to write. When I'm home, I prefer having the laptop in my big recliner in the living room, with a window open.

Date: Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 12:52 (UTC)You know, I don't know when I write better. I don't think it matters that much anymore. I think love scenes (the initial drafts) are better when I'm tired/sleepy because my inhibitions are lowered and I'm not as anxious about them, but generally speaking I think my writing is the same at either end of the day. :)

Date: Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 17:14 (UTC)Ive re-written my epilogue (again). But I really need to be editing eerything to get an overview. Its the stage when things could change a lot for the fic as a whole.
I write at any time and any place I can. At the moment I write at the extremes of the day: morning and night. But I think thats more for the peace than because my brain is any more active.

Date: Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 19:33 (UTC)I'm generally not a morning person, so afternoon and evenings work much better for me. Place is pretty much irrelevant for me, as long as I have my laptop (and maybe earplugs to blank out the noise of my surroundings.)
