WIP Challenge Check-in -- Day 3

It's Saturday, and that calls for a YAY!  \o/

Instead of the usual poll, let's get straight into our end-of-the-week chat about our writing.  How's it going so far today?  Anyone in need of a beta or someone to cheer them on at this point in the writing process?  Any snippets to share?  Any fun research to get excited about?

It's the beginning of the month, so is there anything you want to share about the particular fic you are going to be working on this month?  We'd love to hear all about it!

I'm feeling much better today, so I ought to be able to carve out some time for writing instead of just snoozing. ;-) There's nothing real pressing to do this weekend, either, so that's all the more reason to fill the time with writing! I feel a bit discouraged that August passed with so little accomplished fic-wise, but it really was just that kind of a month, so I am trying to put it behind me.

I was planning on not taking part in challenges in September because I didn't want the pressure, but now it could be a good thing that I signed up for one! After being out of it for a month, I need a push. I've been give a prompt and have an idea for it, which is an interesting one. I'll be writing a character I don't usually do, but I'm interested more than nervous. This challenge fic is due mid-month, so I that's what I'll be working on first -- then it will be back to work on my old WIP's that have being in progress for years. I think I'd like to actually finish them!

Oh, good to hear you're doing better. The challenge fic sounds like a great way to start the month. The best of luck with it! Maybe mixing it up a little can be helpful with the long running WIPs too.

I wrote some more fic today! Given that our new house is still a mess & not unpacked & there's drama around whether the boiler needs replacing (British Gas says yes, our landlord says... no ^^;;;), I count that as a win! I keep doing sort of noodley bits -- not actual fic bits, but more just like... I dunno. Little drabbles or ficlets just to see what it's like to write new characters in a new fandom. It's pretty useful so far in discovering what I think about the way their minds work.

I'll be signing up for Kaleidoscope this month & this new fandom I've been playing around w/(Tumbling) will definitely be something I'm both offering & requesting for the challenge. So... it's good that I'm getting some practice in now!

I'd really like to finish & post the next fic in my Natsume Yuujinchou OT3 futurefic series this month, too. It's pretty close to completion, I just need to find the brain/time/energy to sit down & do it!

Busy day today and I didn't feel very creative. Edited one paragraph. Well, at least that's more than nothing.

Am under the weather, so not really writing. Editing seems to also be a bit beyond my reach at the moment. But I have a fic-in-waiting. Which, I am wrestling with because it is crack-y, but it has a logic issue with it, and I'm not entirely sure how to fix it, or if I should give up the ghost (post it as an amnesty fic?) or what to do with it. Plus, unusual for me, it is a seriously creepy little fic.

Back to crackers, jello, and juice.

Today, I've been wrestling with the German language, rather less than more successfully. In turn, my WIP suddenly seemed like such an easy task and I finally managed to smooth out some kinks that have been bothering me.

I didn't get anything done today. *sigh* I was feeling like shit thanks to the usual monthly bullshit and the only remedy I've found so far is curling up in bed with a bunch of epic-length fanfic.

Hopefully I'll be more productive tomorrow, but I'm not sure that's gonna happen. As usual I'm stuck on the part where I get the characters from angsty UST to fucking. Or, god, I'd be happy for them just to admit their feelings to themselves and one another and just make a move already. Seriously, how does one get one's characters to do that? /whining

Still going well! I got the final two chapters of the WIP (about 3750 words) done and posted, so that's all put to bed.

Not sure where I'll go from here. Just some small one-shots, I think, for the next week or so. I've got 3 weeks to fill before the new season of my show (Supernatural) kicks in - and I'm hoping for some great inspiration from the new episodes!

I'm hoping to take a schwack at a sequel people have been asking me to write for years.

I had a terrible time focusing today, so I mainly added on to some character development sheets for the big project. Hoping I can get on some prose tomorrow!

I'm also on the fence about writing a few fandoms whose canons I just finished/caught up with, but I'm doubtful that IRL is going to give me a lot of free time to write in the near future... we'll have to see.

Well, after three days of an online class, I added 1200 words to the beginning of the fic I'm working on. Wheee...

The class is about sexual tension and getting the sex on the page--building up the moment using the tried and true, scientifically proven 12 steps to intimacy. So I had to add the first steps. :)

Snippet from What Dreams may Come, Chapter Two-ish (though that may change to three with the new added words):

“Draco, what’s wrong? What’s happened?”

He inhaled and then exhaled, his whole body rising and falling with the action. When he finally looked at her, she stopped breathing. The pain etched on his face cut her as effectively as any blade. His mouth opened and closed once. His lids swept shut and he swallowed. When he spoke, his voice was rough with anguish. “My father’s dead.”

Ginny inhaled sharply, her hand going to her mouth. Horror and sadness filled her. “Oh, Draco . . . I’m so sorry,” she whispered, before tugging him into her arms.

He buried his face in her neck and wept, his shoulders shaking as he did so. She stroked his head and rubbed circles on his back as she remembered her own numbing grief at Fred’s death. The sounds of Draco’s grief, while muted, touched the still-healing scars of her own loss. Tears stung her eyes and she wasn’t sure who she was crying for. It had taken her months to finally break down and cry like he was doing now. Hermione had held her much like this and let her sob it out, saying nothing. It was the best thing anyone had done for her. So many people wanted to prattle on to fill the long silences or offer useless platitudes. It had angered Ginny more than anything, so she kept silent now and just held him, not bothering to wipe away her own tears.

Minutes, maybe hours, elapsed in a sluggish cycle of thunder and lightning and rainfall. It was hard to tell in the dim orange glow of the candles. Once the worst of his spell seemed to have passed and he was still for a while, she finally spoke. “Let’s go to bed.”

My procrastination skillz know no end as I have spent the morning writing my last four kink_bingo fills. 700-800 words each, but hey, not complaining. XD

I suppose that means that with that now out of the way, I can concentrate on my kinked bb and polybigbang, along with those assignments I need to do.

NGL, my kinked bb has gone in ... a very strange direction. I had a very clear idea of where I wanted it to go, and the general journey across the course of the fic. But then my MC turned himself into a cat, and then there was a shadow universe (probably), and then EVERYTHING CHANGED. So. Not quite what I had in mind when I started this. But hey, I get to make my MC submissive for once. I figure it'll do him some good. He bitches about it all the time, but I think he secretly loves it. ;)

Still no writing :( am in the middle of packing to move next weekend, if I ever get a straight answer about the dates that is, and prepping for my mum and step-dad's visit which is also next weekend as well as prepping for uni, even though that starts towards the end of the month. Bit of a nightmare at the moment.

I did sign up for this month's round of prompt_in_a_box and I'm hoping that I can write for at least one of the prompts, all three would be awesome but right now I'll settle for one.
Also, after much mithering, I've signed up for smallfandombang too and put a few fandoms in the sign-ups comment, so I can work with the fandom that feels right. I have until April, I think for final posting. Need to do a post on this at somepoint on my other account. If any of that makes sense...

I am still getting the urge to write a SVU fic. Which is totally unrelated to the currently on hold huge WIP. I need to find the DVD with last night's channel 5 ep on it and have a little re-watch when I have more time. Need to also find time to go over my notes for my Eureka ficlet and also re-read the drabble I wrote the other day. Hopefully I'll get something posted before the month is out *fingers crossed*
