How's the fic coming today?
We're heading towards the midpoint of the month. Are you flagging, or still going strong? Full of confidence or full of despair? We've done this one before, but as a way to perhaps remind us that we're capable of finishing fics (& fics we like, even!): tell us which fic of yours you are proudest of (give us a link!) & why!

Tell us about your fic in four words or less!

Date: Monday, September 12th, 2011 21:25 (UTC)I'm a little startled to discover there are several fics I'm really proud of that I could mention here, but I'll go w/what I said last time, From Blossom to Blossom to Impossible Blossom, my first Natsume Yuujinchou OT3 fic. I'm proud of it because I was nervous writing a squishy sappy high school OT3 story, & in fact prompted it numerous places hoping someone else would write it. But I did it, & I still like it, & now I feel like I have a lot of stories to tell about those characters in an OT3 way. Also, pleasingly, the fic's been well-received: always nice! (It even has a fanart from it! *____* )

Date: Monday, September 12th, 2011 21:33 (UTC)I guess the one I'm proudest of is my RH epic called Marian: Through the Looking Glass--I'm most proud because it's epic *and* it has a plot--something I really struggle to come up with. :)

Date: Monday, September 12th, 2011 22:53 (UTC)I was flagging a wee bit but now that I've got something written and posted, I'm getting on a bit of a roll again :) always good. I'm 50/50 on the confidence/despair scale. For the prompt fics I'm fairly confident but for my big bang fic despair is creeping in a little because I re-watched the episode I need for referencing and I'll be writing about domestic violence again, and it's a topic I (sadly) experienced when I was growing up so I feel uncomfortable writing it :s
Proudest of Haunted SG1 - because I wrote a pairing I don't like and I also wrote about domestic violence, which is what I grew up with and it was written at a time when I was extremely uncomfortable with talking about it. The feedback I got at the time was mostly positive. I also did my own art for it, my skills have improved since then though.
If You Asked Killer Instinct - because it took me over a year to write it and although it got no feedback (tiny fandom) I'm glad I wrote it and that show canon, it's based on events of the series finale, let me go down the potential drug problem route. Again I did my own art for it.
Salt Skin trilogy (part 1; part 2; part 3) also on ao3 Taggart - wrote the first part as soon as STV ran the ep promo way back in October last year (we got the final series a few months before England did :p) and my brain kind of exploded with the R/J kiss. It's also one of the few times that I've gone and written sequels to a fic. The first part of the fic was only my second within the fandom.

Date: Tuesday, September 13th, 2011 07:47 (UTC)I think the fic I'm most proud of is Mrs Stanwood's Birthday Party, a Poirot/Hastings case fic, because it's the longest fic I've written so far with an actual whodunnit plot and original characters. When I started it, I didn't know if I could do plot, or OCs, or if I had the patience to stick with a story for such a long time. It's also the only thing I've ever written in a historic setting, and not being a native speaker, getting the language right was another challenge. I had an awesome beta reader, though, and I learned quite a lot from her.

Date: Tuesday, September 13th, 2011 19:52 (UTC)& I can imagine writing a mystery plot must be quite difficult -- I would find that v. intimidating, so go you! & also w/the historical fic in a non-native language (yay for good betas at times like that, indeed)!

Date: Tuesday, September 13th, 2011 13:17 (UTC)Which fic am I proudest of? I honestly can't pin it down to one (or a dozen). There are a bunch of them that I'm pleased with for different reasons. What's curious to me is that the ones I really think came out well often don't get as much response as ones that I posted with a "Well, just post it and move on."
I got two surprise recs yesterday, for old stories (each of them a couple years old). That was a very nice treat!

Date: Tuesday, September 13th, 2011 20:17 (UTC)Fave story? Don't know which to choose. I'm pleased with differnt ones for different reasons. How about House of Go. An unknowing OC in the future beyond Hikago canon. Hikaru's student tells all. Actually this is a WIP. Perhaps thats why I like it because I'm closer to it as I imagine what will happen next.
