Almost done editing! Best practices is writing ideas down, for sure. Whether I actually do that is like 50/50.

If at all possible, I try to write ideas down right away, because I can't always remember them otherwise. Unfortunately a lot of my ideas happen to come just as I am falling asleep so I don't always get them written down -- and I sometimes forget them as a result.

For a very long time, I would try to wait and write ideas down later. (When I was near my computer, when I had some extra time, whatever.)

I know myself better now, and I know that any time I say "oh yeah, I'll remember, I don't need to write that down right away" I am lying, haha.

I finally followed some oft-repeated advice, and got myself a notebook that I can keep in my purse, so I almost always have it close enough to jot something down in. I've also learned that I should absolutely outline any little bits that I think of, because sometimes I write down a single line or concept... and look back at it months later and have NO idea what on earth it means.
