Hello!
How did writing went today?
- words happened
- life happened
- took a break
- did something related to writing
- daydreamed about draft
- Muse confessed their love to you in their feverish delirium, you are waiting to see if they're going to remember it once they wake up
Saturday's discussion question: on my last day as a volunteer, i would like to ask you for a snippet from your favourite work and to tell me why you are proud of this passage!

Content warning for violence and namecalling, i think?
"Bastards can kill. A bastard is no maiden to have others defending him. A bastard is no righteous lord to rule over life and death. Bastards don’t cry self-defense. Bastards don’t challenge other men either. Bastards do not start wars and are not spared by them. Bastards need to win wars to survive. A courtesan’s pain might be measured in silver, a general's in blood; a bastard’s aching bones are left unmarked. Bastards smile. They serve tea. They offer gifts. And men die if they will it."
The reason i am really proud of this passage is actually invisible here. It ties together a few trains of thoughts in a way that i hope is reminiscent of how the mind of my narrator works. The previous two paragraphs about how maidens or generals kill and the fic talks about the social rules around murder, comparing it to gift giving or serving tea. It actually contains references to an unpublished fic, too and i like that because this one is already about the narrator imagining alternate outcomes for something he plans (murder, he is planning murder) and so having a twin fic where everything happens differently feels fitting.
