Today's discussion question: do you find character's canon voices influence your author's voice?

Life kind of happened today, which threw me for a bit of a loop, but I am hoping to still recoup some writing time before bed, and see where it goes.

I think my characters' canon voices to influence me to some extent, because many of them talk without using contractions and I find myself writing like that a fair bit!

I thought about changing the POV of one of my fics in revision from 1st person to 3rd person; there's too much introspection and not enough action going on. I probably should have noticed this sooner though. ^^;;

The characters I write generally speak in Japanese (which I'm not fluent in); I try to hew as close to their canon personalities as I can most of the time, but I'm already at least one level removed as far as interpretations go.
