WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 1 -- Wednesday

Hello on Wednesday!  How are things going in the world of fic?

Did you write?

If yes, what kind of writerly activity did you engage in?  How do you feel about it?
If no, what were the obstacles/situations that affected your writerly pursuits?  What will you do differently tomorrow to get more writing done?
If not yet, because the day hasn't gotten going yet, what kind of writing activity are you planning (or hoping) to accomplish?

I have not written and probably won't get a chance until the weekend. My work schedule is new and crazy and I can't seem to adjust to it yet, this being the first week and full of unwelcome surprises. Hopefully I can get a handle on things and settle into a new routine soon so I know when my writing times are going to be!

Wishing you less stress over the course of this week. Hopefully things settle down soon. Personally, when life has me out of sorts enough to put a pause on writing, I like to go on a walk and listen to music that inspires my writing so that I can keep pushing the story forward in my head even if I can't get it written just yet. Or sometimes I just lay across my bed and listen to music with my journal beside me so I can jot down anything that comes to mind. It's low energy creativity and helps me feel better about not having enough juice to put words on the page.

Got more done yesterday than I would have expected. Back to the daily grind - drinking black coffee because I'm out of cream. Three more scenes to go in this chapter.

Endless editing has always been my busy work, but I think I'm finally learning not to let the perfect be the enemy of the good enough.

Happy Wednesday! I haven't written on my fic yet, but I'll be working some more on the outline for it. So far I have a good understanding of how I want the opening sequence to go, and I'm going to be working out the plot. My idea started out as a vibe and an aesthetic, so now I'm trying to shape it into something that retains the coolness that inspired the universe but has substance and weight to it.

I also want to make sure that I'm not creating busy work for myself which is a procrastination trait I have. I get so wrapped up in the planning that the actual writing gets put on the back burner. So I have two goals for this week. Finish the outline and get any research I need to do done so that I can start writing by Monday. If I accomplish those goals before that then great, but that's the time frame I've chose.

Nothing today so far... Had a rough first day back at work (where I had to train a new person for most of the day), and then got a frustrating notice from our apartment. :/ But I'm hoping to read through a bit more of my current WIP in preparation for picking back up where I left off!
