We made it to the weekend! In celebration, I thought we could focus on what brings us joy about writing.
Here are our discussion prompts:
-What do you enjoy most about writing?
-What is your favorite part about working on the fic(s) you've chosen to focus on for September's challenge?
-What scene or moment are you looking forward to reaching in your WIP?

Date: Friday, September 10th, 2021 12:32 (UTC)The fic I chose for the challenge is a new lane for me, and what's been fun about working on it is the flow of ideas. The story has moved in surprising directions which have made it better than what I had originally conceptualized.
I have three scenes I really want to get to in this fic. The first is easiest because it's the opening and sets the tone of the rest of the fic. The other is begun by a side character who starts a fight which prompts the main character to have to jump into the brawl himself. And the last is a sequence in the female leads bar that involves a key figure who's fun to write because he's so nonchalant and above it all. Once I iron out the climax that'll probably be up there, too, as a scene I'm itching to reach.

Date: Friday, September 10th, 2021 15:05 (UTC)My favorite part of my current book and series is the father-stepdaughter relationship between Dexter and Astor, which has been a joy and comfort to me during my dad's illness and passing last year.
I am looking forward to ALL THE CLIFFHANGERS. As well as the pivotal scene which will mirror similar scenes in the first two books.
And I haven't actually written anything yet today, but it's been an otherwise productive day. So I'm betting this evening will see at least a few words added to the count.

Date: Saturday, September 11th, 2021 03:38 (UTC)Fic can be comforting and healing as well like you mentioned with yours as it brought you joy in the time of your father's illness and then passing.
Fic can be escapism but it can also be a means of working through what may even be going on in your personal life. It's one of the things that make it beautiful tbh.
I laughed when I saw cliffhangers in all caps. Your readers are going to be like !!!! and rushing to the next chapter.
Did you end up squeezing in some writing?
