WIP Challenge Check-In, Day 26: Toot Your Horn Sunday

Happy holidays, everyone! I hope all that celebrate Christmas had a wonderful day and that if you don't observe the holiday that your 25th was superb. We're only a few days shy of December's close which means we're almost staring the end of this month's WIP challenge in the face as well as January. 2022 is on its way, y'all!

For today's check-in, let's give ourselves a little toot toot of the horn in celebration of all we've accomplished in fanfic writing so far this month.

Here are our discussion prompts:

-Name one thing you're happy about with your fic and/or the fic writing process so far.

-Share something you're proud of that you accomplished. Have you thought about your fic more than you had? Did you put something on the page no matter how short? Did you finish your outline or a first draft? Whether it's a big or small achievement, toot your horn!

-What do you have planned for this week in the December WIP challenge? Are you taking time off from writing? Pivoting to another part of your process? What are your goals for the week?

I'm happy that I'm sticking to my monthly updates of The Devil Went Down to Roswell. Having this goal has helped me let go if this idea that I have to reach a certain word count in order for a chapter to "count."

It sounds silly now, but I always felt like I had to hit a significant word count in order to feel like it's worth posting a new chapter. Now that I've set this monthly goal for myself, I'm like 'Okay, how much have I written? Is where I've gotten to a serviceable end for this chapter even though that's not where I originally planned to end it?' It's helping me to keep better track of how much I'm capable of writing in a month including first drafts, rewrites, and fleshing out of sections.

This week I'm finishing up chapter 2 of TDWDTR and posting it. Once I do, I'll have met my WIP challenge goal for December, so I'll be super happy about that.

UPDATE: I finished chapter 2 of The Devil Went Down to Roswell!! It's up on Ao3 now. Very happy I made my goal ☺️.

I know I've hardly been participating here for most of the year (took a bit of an unintentional DW break), but I just finished and posted the longest fic I've ever written and the recip (it was a gift) loved it. I'm very pleased.

I have completed all my assingments (well, no, but the two left doesn't have a deadline sooner than half a year so it feels like that) so for this week, i want to see if i am inspired by any advent calendar or fandomtrees prompts and then if i do, i write and post them, if not, that's alright, too. It's low pressure writing after a kind of stressful autumn.
I did actually post an advent calendar fill yesterday so i'm already pretty proud.

I'm proud of the fact that I've worked a lot on fixing the outline for this fic, as well as figuring out some things that I'll need to incorporate in draft two.

Unfortunately, that hasn't translated into finishing draft one, but we're getting there! I'm hoping to get at least some progress on that this week, even though I'm no longer pushing to have draft one completed by the end of the year.
