[personal profile] linaewen posting in [community profile] writethisfanfic
Hi there! [personal profile] linaewen here as your (usually) trusty check-in person for this first full week of the new October month.  Due to a family gathering and the worst internet ever, I am late posting today, but I shall do better hereafter.  :-)

Yesterday discussion was about how awesome our fics are going to be this month.  How did it go for you today in your pursuit of awesomeness?  Did you have a fun writing day?  Did you have a fun day period?  Tell us about it -- and be sure to report any kind of writing progress you made, no matter whether it had to do with editing, writing, or even just thinking about your story.  If you weren't able to get to writing today, was it still an awesome day anyway?

No writing today. Reading again in between sessions of housework. However, I searched for some prompts for my exchange fic as I'm not particularly feeling the love for the fic I started. I now have four prompts to ponder until tomorrow when I shall make a decision and begin writing anew. :)

No writing today as I decided to take a day off. Got done with Chapter Four of my Big Bang last night and it was exhausting. XD; With that out of the way, tomorrow or Tuesday I plan to beta the last two fics I owe to my friends before doing some editing of my fic.

Speaking of which, I'm still waiting for my beta to get back her notes for Chapter Two to me. *sighs* I'm thinking something is going wrong at her end like a family emergency or her internet went down. Hopefully she'll reply to me soon and let me know if she's okay.

Wrote some fluff for my 750 Words. Possibly usable at some point. Kept meaning to open up another file for editing -- thought about it multiple times all day! -- but never actually did it. /o\

That was quite a good day for me. I managed to finish rewriting the scene I got stuck on. I don't feel overly excited about the new version, but at least it's better than before. Additionally, I got quite a lot of editing done.

No writing for me either because I was moving, but I did think a little about how to tackle the post-apocalypse fic while unpacking dishes. Today I'll try and do some basic research so I can start writing.

No writing from me either. I'm still exhausted from last weekends mad rush but I've been thinking about the plot for a fic so not a total waste.

Don't worry about being late. I'm so late about replying that its often the day after.

Awesome things - working out how to use ywriter (writing software) along with Dropbox to synchronise the files between my netbook and a stationary PC. I discovered it while trying to backup the ywriter project to somewhere other than the inbuilt default of the same hard drive it was initailly saved to.

Its not just the ywriter 'project' you have to save but the ywriter projects directory as a whole as the program saves each scene in a separate .rtf file and the 'project' file itself coordinates these rtfs and stores you notes. By saving the directory you get all the rtfs (in a subdirectory called RTF5), otherwise you just get an empty shell with no actual scenes (= Help! Where's my fic gone).

I still consider that I have ywriter 'on trial' (its a shareware) until Ive gone though the whole process up to posting fic written with it. I have no complaints so far though.

Less awesome. Not finishing yesterday's scene revision. Its largely a question of length, a lot has got to happen as characters A and B look for character C (and then once they find him). I'll surely finish it in an hour or so, but I doubt I'll have time for anything new today.

I wrote about 300 words, and it was rather silly and I'm not sure I'm ever going to show that to anyone, but at least a ficlet finished. *goes around to look for unfinished and unwritten ficlet ideas, feeling still not up to finishing the fic*

Things are going pretty well this month - a little slower than last month, but okay. I've got a new multi-chap in progress that I'm hoping to finish by the end of the month - so if I can average a page a day, I'll be on target with that one. And, whatever little one-shots come to mind.

I've also signed up for a BB challenge, which I'm excited about. The word cutoff is only 15,000 words, and it's not due until March, so I've got a lot of leeway there.

Hope everyone has a good, satisfying, productive month, whether it's with writing or something else!
