WIP Challenge Check-in -- Day 4

It's a beautiful Tuesday here in my neck of the woods!  Hope you are all having weather conducive to whatever you had planned for the day -- hopefully some of those plans included writing!  If that was the case, how did it go for you today?

I think what I am doing could be classified under the planning/research phase of writing. I'm letting my mind wander around a couple of ideas for a little thing I'm working on and taking notes on anything that seems promising. I'm gaining confidence in my plan and that gives me a line of research to follow. If things continue to go well, I may even get to the point where I'll write something, but for now, it's all the preliminary stuff.

In four words or less: This could be interesting....

To elaborate, I am working on a challenge fic which involves me writing "out of the box" -- in other words, writing in a way that is different from what I usually write, whether it's a character, a genre, a style, or whatever. The ideas that are coming to me should prove to be an interesting stretch for me!

Revisions/edits on what is now chapter five of a Draco/Ginny fic. One last thing to add and then it's off to the beta reader.

I also sent off chapter one of this same fic to a dear {online} acquaintance in England for some Brit picking. Can't wait to see how that comes back. :)

No progress (as of yet) on the exchange fic today.

Oh, I love this fic. I hope others will enjoy reading it as much as I'm enjoying writing it.

I'm also brushing up on my grammar knowledge. There are a few gaps in my knowledge that I'd like to fill up, particularly lay/lie/laid/lain and who vs. whom.

Finished the first edit! I'm so happy! The last part went quite smoothly, but that's because there's lots of dialogue I like in the end. Now to find a first beta for the more general stuff.

I did nothing again. There's just too much shit going on right now, I'm not relaxed enough to feel inspired, even though I really want to write.

Feelings about my fic: come back! I love the idea, I really want to continue writing it, but it's so not happening right now. :(

Started editing a ficlet I found (totally forgot about) on my hardrive but I'm not sure if I'll be posting it though because I've been away from that fandom for a long time.
Used the outline I wrote on my BB yesterday for this weeks drabble challenge over at lawandorder100 and the good thing is I can also use the outline again but for the huge WIP.

For the smallfandombang fic - frustrated because I want to write for both ideas but haven't got the spare time to write 2 10,000 word fics. I'd talk to people about it but the ones in fandom are very *ahem* clique-like and it is very off putting because I'd only encountered cliques in bigger fandoms.
For everything else - disillusioned becuase some of the ideas are very clear in my head but as soon as I get them on the page/screen something, sometimes everything goes missing.

Anyway, finally got my big bang crossposted and the only other thing I did was start the list of things I need to research for my girlsavesboy fic. Which I had really been looking forward to writing, but now I'm totally not sure and am thinking about something else instead. *headdesk*

Wrote a drabble, even though I am dead tired - go me. The drabble is a crossover with a fandom I don't know that well, and possibly AU as for that fandom, and not suitable for posting, but I am ridiculously pleased for writing it anyway - I killed too many ridiculous-fun ideas just for being ridiculous, so yay for letting this one live at least in my notebook.

Planning. I was feeling stuck on where to take my story. Now I have an idea. But I have to rework some stuff. Plus I really need to make a character binder.

Blind Go reveals went up. Mine was Slipping though my fingers. Does that count as 'posting'? It's been up anonymously for a couple of weeks. I'll add it to the WTTF collection at AO3, though I do wonder whether I'll need to edit it again first. It was finished at the eleventh hour before the deadline and I haven't dared look at it since.
Four words or less: Don't wanna get distracted
The deeper you get into a fic, the furher you need to pull back to get perspective for editing, but the harder it is to return as deeply into that universe if you take a break. Complete emersion seems to produce a kind of state I saw during NANO, where people start talking about their characters as though they were real people, and only those with the same plight understand!

My beta finally replied to me and send in her beta notes she did for chapter 2 of my Big Bang. She told me she had a rough week lately, which is understandable. I was able to make most of the edits last night despite a long day yesterday. Today I plan to get the rest of the edits done and work on looking over Chapter Three a bit.

My fic in four words: POLITICAL TALKS ARE HARD. X_X As I mentioned a million times before, my Big Bang has some politics in it and it's not easy. XD

(Which is to say: I have wroted! Stuff. Really weird stuff. I made myself up a crack!cliche_bingo card of sorts - the comm is fanbingo, actually - and now I have ALL THE STORIES chasing round my head at once. And my critical ability seems to have gone on break. :P So I feel terribly awkward about posting anything because I can't tell if it's dreck or not, but I AM WRITING ALL THE THINGS. *sigh*)
