For discussion. What are your fic goals for the next seven days? Do you find short-term goals as useful as long-term ones? Or better? Or worse?

Haven't written yet, though I'm hoping to.

Right now, I'm getting housework done and supervising my son doing some chores and enjoying the MUCH needed rain.

Fic goals...a) to get my love scene for my exchange fic finished and then edited and b) work on revisions/edits in another WIP.

I do actually find short-term goals helpful. It's easier to accomplish the long term goals if you have a plan (or smaller goals) to get you there--you can see the progress you're making toward that larger goal instead of seeming nebulous and out of reach.

I wrote a little less than 300 words earlier today, on a WIP that I haven't had time/energy to work on in weeks. I also reread and reviewed the previous chapter, in anticipation of posting it, probably tomorrow. The day's far from over for me, but then I'm also pretty tired.

*sigh* Haven't written anything again today, dammit. University is taking up way more time than I had expected, which - well, I probably should have expected that. *facepalm* Goal for next week: get the story I wrote last month edited, write at least something. Maybe during lectures? *innocent whistle*

To write a little something on my huge WIP and to post at least 1 fic. That's the plan for the now but knowing what my workload for uni is it could (probably will) change.

I prefer short term goals to long term goals. I have both dyslexia and dyspraxia so short term is always easier for me to deal with especially when it comes to something long term.

I posted a silly fic! And people like it! :D

(Now to write more silly fics! And maybe some accidentally serious ones. Huzzah for fic bingoes!)

I love silly fics! They're actually so much nicer sometimes than the long serious angsty fic. Being able to laugh or smile is a treat.

I actually started planning! I made a list of various long writing projects and listed what needed to be done with them, and then approached my unfinished and belated LBB fic as if I were writing it anew, making a list of POVs, themes and parts so that I'd see what I haven't covered yet. I think I'm going to disassemble this story into POVs and then assemble together again. Hopefully.

I'd also like to write something today, to keep the habit.

Wrote about 800 words off a prompt in [profile] chromatic_vision's drabblefest -- though it's obviously not a drabble, & not in any shape to be even a... octodrabble??? But still, words! That's good.

I find short-term goals more helpful -- if I make myself ask for a beta & then tell them I'll send them the fic by next weekend, it's really useful in order to make myself stop faffing around & editing the fic in question to bits!

For the next 7 days... I don't know. I've felt like I haven't been able to get stuck back into any of my WIPs lately, so a goal would be to actually sit down & open some of those files. I've meant to do that for a few days & haven't. Also, I am hopefully getting my Kaleidoscope assignment in the next day or so! So, depending on which fandom it's for, the next week might need to be reserved for canon refresh. Or I might be able to dive right in (I'll probably need at least a little canon refresh no matter what, but how extensive depends on the fandom...).

I'm working on my hlh_shortcuts challenge fic. Still trying to get it plotted. Just a few sticking points. I'd really like to get it done because I desperately want to get back to some other fics that I am working on, which don't have deadlines, so they can sit and wait.

The downside was I made coffee at home instead of going out to get a latte. My coffee is nowhere near as good. Ugh. Bad writing coffee. No good for the writing brain.

Wrote some more drabbles for [community profile] chromaticvision's drabblethon. And did another one for a fandom I haven't written for before! I'm having a lot of fun with this contest.

Next seven days--probably continue to do some more drabbles until the contest is over, and work on some other fics for challenges coming up. Lots of fic writing. If I don't work on fic, I'll likely be doing more research for my NaNoWriMo idea for this year.

No writing today as I decided to catch up on some reading. I did post a couple fics over at my LJ account, or rather transferred them from other communities, LOL. Tomorrow I plan to do a lot of editing over my Big Bang and one of my friend's story (she told me she'll have more of the story ready by then).

My goals for the next seven days are get some editing of my Big Bang done, get through some beta work for my friends, and write a prompt story I owe that I hope to post it for Halloween. Like jagnikjen said, short term goals are pretty useful as a long term goal can get done if broken done into smaller ones. Since I tend to write plotty stories, that's what I tend to do.
