For discussion: What's your favorite way to take a short break from writing so that you come back refreshed and ready to jump right back in there?

Editing a WIP and trying to get going on my challenge fic.

Discussion question...Um, I don't really know. Getting enough sleep and not pressuring myself to do it when I don't really want to. Reading/watching canon helps me want to get back to it, as does reading fan fic for whatever pair I'm writing. Other than that, it's really just time.

I wrote more... noodling, or just... scraps of words, really, whatever. Not working on anything in particular, except just keeping my brain warmed up for writing. Actually I did draft a possible prompt fic but it's not usable, so... I think of it as more a warm-up exercise.

I got my assignment for the Kaleidoscope exchange now, tho, & am so excited about that!!!1 I want to stay up doing canon refresh but I need to go to bed b/c tomorrow's my long workday. Sob.

I don't know if I have a set way to take a break to make it effective -- I wish I did! Sometimes just the impatience while waiting for a beta to get back to me is enough to get me excited about the story -- somehow not being able to work on it until then makes me antsy to work on it, so yay for betas not being able to instantly turn around stories!

Wrote a few hundred words. My big problem was that everyone seemed to want to talk to me today on my break time. So instead of writing, I had to answer inane questions about ordinary life stuff. Dear co-worker: we're in the same room 7+ hours a day, why do you also need to talk with my on break time?

My favorite way to recharge is exercise! Going to a walk always makes the ideas flow better.

Some thoughts on planning a longer story, and a drabble (additional exercise: trying to incorporate some action into my character studies).

As for recharging, I'm bad at it, and I rarely write in long stints anyway. I run out of ideas, or get too tired, and that's it.

I've been kinda ultra-busy over the past few days, but have gotten the bare minimum of my 750 daily words done... and that's it. It's been slow going for a while, and I'm still fretting over this alternate draft I seem to have migrated to...

For discussion, you said "short", so I can't say sleep (I'm totally guilty of the four-hour nap!) but during various menial things like cooking, my mind is bound to wander and usually I try to steer it toward whatever I'm working on!

Did lots of editing today. *_* Was editing my Big Bang, a short story from one friend, and a couple long scenes from another friend. My brain is pretty fried at this point, LOL.

Hm, not sure how I go by the discussion question. I guess mostly internet surfing, getting housework down, and just walking in the living room for a while are my main ways of taking a break from writing.
