And here is a little question out of curiosity: How do you like to start a scene?

I usually try to start a scene by establishing place, person, and time, or at least two of those. If I think about my outlined scenes, that's what it is, usually.

I wrote about 5 words, so I'm counting that as a win.

For me, I like to start scenes with something that sets the tone, whether it's a humorous line or something more serious. But I can't start writing until I know that first sentence.

Setting a tone helps me a lot too! And it's so much fun to think myself into the character and the situation, really feel it!

I started sorting through some notes that just appeared out of nowhere (I should really find a system for my notes and not just stuff them into drawers and notebooks.

I like to start a scene with a sentence that includes something for that character to interact with - something that's typical for what ever they are doing and that's going to be important.

I got about a thousand words written on a WIP I've been working on off and on. I did a couple of word sprints at like 1 AM cause I couldn't sleep and I finished a scene I'd been stuck on for ages.

I went back to check all the fics that I've got in progress to see how I started them and for most of them, I seem to start them off with descriptions of what the character is doing right then. And for some reason a description of whatever the weather is doing, but since in both stories, it's relevant to the plot maybe that's why. <__<

I did not get any writing done at all last week, but I am hoping that this week will be more of a writing week now that all the busy holiday stuff is (almost) behind me. I have a pretty quiet week ahead of me, so that should help!

This is actually a good question, I am not sure if there is a certain way I like to start a scene. I just know that I really struggle with the starting, but once I "get it" the rest of it flows.
