For discussion: Perhaps you've seen the writing advice about doing something different to snap out of a rut -- particularly recommended seems to be writing in a different place than usual, whether that means in a cafe, in a different room of your house, inside a closet instead of at your desk! Do you do anything like this? Does it work? If not, what do you do to free yourself when you're feeling stuck instead?

I tried writing in cafes... it mostly works for me. Hell, maybe I should go to a cafe tomorrow - since I had to take a break because of work, not a word written. Have to get back into a habit *grimly*

Nah, was too unwell to go out. I did write yesterday, though - a page of the-story-I-am-not-writing, not particularly moving to anywhere, but still: writing is happening!

Thanks for the link! I once tried the HabitForge (not for writing) but did not quite like the setup.

I always tend to write really well when I end up in a library to research for my fic. I never considered that it might be the fact that it's a different place that helps. *ponders*

765 words of my Big Bang today. I could have done more, but was mulling over this radio announcement and also the introduction of a character. Now I'm going to have to think about how I'll have that mentioned character meet up with the main characters of the story. Hm...

I too tend to leave my fics aside whenever I get stuck with them. I was then able to figure out how to approach those fics most of the time.

I need...

...quiet or music or football.
...coffee or tea.
...not to be tired.
...somewhat dark out.
...a very comfy spot.

At least, I work best that way.
