[personal profile] littlebutfierce posting in [community profile] writethisfanfic
It's Friday! Couldn't come fast enough in my neighborhood. How about you? How are you finishing off this week for fic writing? What do you plan to do this weekend?

Please use this post for general chit-chat & also to post snippets, ask for betas, etc.!

Also, if anyone is interested in hosting writing sessions or sprints this weekend, please feel free to post announcing the time & place! I haven't had time to do any in quite a while, alas.

My end of week finished up much like the end of last week: the teaching and RL work eating up my energy and fic time. I'm hoping things will improve soon.

Sprints sound good, though I won't know my availability until the last moment.

I haven't done much writing at all this month. My brain just felt scaringly empty after moving, but it's getting better. I put together two ficlets for a friend this week and wrote 800 pretty, polished words over the last two days. Even if it's not what I'm meant to be working on, I'm very happy with this.

I've written barely anything this month, because RL happenings tend to drain me of any kind of creativity. However, I did start something yesterday during lectures, and I did a bit of editing today on the fic I wrote last month. :D

Excerpts:

(The one I started yesterday):
"His problems all started, Frank thinks, when his idiot baby self decided to be born on Halloween. Or really, at dusk on Halloween. He pokes morosely at his cereal. A dead fly picks itself up from the window sill and starts buzzing around the kitchen. Frank glares at it. That's exactly what he means.

You'd think that being a necromancer would be awesome, right? Controlling the dead - you could just get them to do all your chores for you, or beat up the asshole bullies at school, or take over the world with your armies of undead. But no, all it does is cause problems, cause he doesn't have enough to raise an undead army, but he can't ever fucking turn it off either."

(The one I'm in the process of editing):
"He ends up in a club with shitty music and even shittier drinks. When he starts seeing double he thinks it's probably better to go home. He manages to get back without any major mishaps, though the sidewalk seesaws like they're at high sea and one car almost drives him over when a particularly high wave catapults him onto the street.

He drops his keys and has to hold himself up against the door when he bends down to pick them up. It takes him three tries to fit the right key into the lock (it's not his fault it keeps shifting away from him) but he finally manages to get the door open and stumble into the hallway. By some miracle his parents don't hear him trip down the stairs to his and Mikey's room.

His luck runs out then, though, because there's still light filtering through the crack underneath the door. He contemplates turning back, but he's not sure where he would go, and anyway he's getting kind of tired now, so he just pushes open the door. He misjudges the force and overbalances, but just manages to catch himself and extend the fall over to his bed.

Except there's someone already in it. "Mikey? What're you doin' in my bed?" he slurs.

"This is my bed, dumbass," Mikey's unamused voice filters through the alcohol haze.

"Oh." Gerard waits for his thoughts to catch up with him, then adds, "S'ry."

Mikey snorts. "Whatever."

Gerard manages to get his hands under himself and lift himself up a little to look at Mikey. His hair is all mussed up and his eyes are still smudged dark. Mikey looks up at him. "Can you get the fuck off me already?"

Gerard hums and reaches out to flutter his fingers over Mikey's long, dark eyelashes. Mikey's chest hitches. Gerard can feel it where he's still pressed against him. He knows this is a bad idea, he knows it, even though he can't remember why.[...]"

... I am maybe ridiculously excited about getting back into the ficcing grove. :D

Around 550 words done today for my Big Bang. GAH, stuck over how I want to approach the next couple action scenes and STILL not sure how I'll have the new character meet with the main ones, so instead I wrote one of the future scenes I plan to do to see if I might have inspiration to write over how everything comes to the new scene I wrote. Hopefully tomorrow I'll think of something.

I think I made some nice progress with the chapter of my Big BangI'm working on now. Sadly I'm kinda stuck now, but as I mentioned hope that will blow over tomorrow.
