Another fanfic flamingo today:

[Old fic you hate have reviews (Fanfic Flamingo) To delete or not to delete that is the question]

How often do you go back to your old fic, especially the very early stuff? Would you consider deleting it if it makes you cringe?

My old fics makes me cringe, but I still won' delete them because they're a part of fandom tapestry and personal history. I like to own up to my stuff, bad or not too.

I've got some truly terrible old fics floating around the net, but I wouldn't delete them. I don't go back to my early stuff very much, unless it's to re-read them for old times sake.

I deleted my LJ, which had some fic on it, but I believe some of my old bullshit is still hanging around. I hate broken links, so I'm loath to delete.

Right now I'm multi-tasking editing-for-beta (and incomplete fic) alongside researching the basics of sailing. One of my stories calls for a family of three to go on a short boating expedition. I don't know a thing about it, so I'm starting with the basics.

I plan to keep my old crappy crap up forever! How else will people be amazed by how much my writing has improved? ;)

I've left my old stuff up--heck, I've even archived it on AO3 in case the fandom-specific archive ever fails--but I don't go back to revisit it. The more recent stuff I will, but the stuff I was writing when I just started out, not so much.

*ponders* Actually, I still get the occasional kudos or comment on that stuff, so people are still reading it. Wouldn't be fair to delete it then, really.

I started out writing with a friend. We had a blow up and she changed the password to our account, even the email. So some of my old stuff (since I did most of the writing) is still up as it seems that she has abandoned everything. A large part of me wants to go back and finish everything I had started but this account is an attempt to start out new.

Wrote and posted a ~700 word short story, "Vulnerable" (Garak/Bashir, R).

I wouldn't know where to find my older stuff, honestly -- the two archives it was on have gone down. But I'd tend to leave it up; as someone else mentioned, it's part of my personal writing history and also part of fannish history in its own very small way. And who knows? Someone might still come across it and like it! :D

Haven't started yet, but will still continue with editing a bit of my Big Bang. Got that scene I wanted to rewrite more or less, just needed to expand it slightly more and perhaps change a little bit of the next scene.

I considered deleting some of my older works, but decided against it as it's fun sometimes looking through your old stuff and then see how much you had improved now. There are times where after I finished and posted something I try to rewrite certain parts, but those I never follow through as I'm far more interested in doing a new story instead of looking back on an old one.

I haven't accomplished anything with writing today -- as yet. If I do anything today it will probably be research or "canon refresh."

I often go back to my old stuff, which is still up in some places -- and I still like it! There are a few things that are only posted in one place, and I have considered reworking some of them and posting them in more places as a back up. One of my big writing goals is to go back to my very first multi-chapter fic and redo it a bit, to fix some spots where the timeline is really messed up, and to write a new ending for it. If I ever start making progress in my other WIPs, I'll start up on that new project, as well!

I did some planning for a big Yu-Gi-Oh AU I'm working on (my second-most major project after the Princess Tutu fic), and realised that it might be better if I add an inherently skeevy pairing that I really try not to ship. So I'm not sure yet if this is progress or a crime against decency. I may still come to my senses.

Writing is slow, almost no go right now. :(

I don't go back to my old fic very often. It's not cringe worthy so it'll stay. I do still occasionally get notices from ffn that someone has favorited a story. I did get a review the other day from a very old fic. :)

I did it once - but after some of the fanfics I loved were deleted, I decided to leave mine in place. I might think they are not good enough anymore - but someone out there might be crushed about it, just as I was sad not to find old fics by others that I really liked.

I am still planning. Trying a new method - let's see whether it works.

I don't reread _very_ early stuff, but I don't delete - I am a packrat, I very rarely destroy _anything_.
