I propose that we set up a semi-permanent chat room for this community. In practice it would work like this: people would log in, and if someone's there, someone's there. There would be no official staffing.

However, I think that if people knew that there was an option to chat outside formally arranged writing sessions, eventually the chat room could become a place where there would be a high possibility of encountering someone. It would require that people remember to log in to it when they are online, though.

I'll keep the poll in the previous entry open for a few days, so keep voting. I'll post on the results of the poll on, let's say, Sunday.

snowynight linked to this useful guide to IRC. It's the #yuletide channel guide, but the same principles apply. You just need to change the channel name to #writethisfanfic. There are descriptions on how to join IRC from different clients in that post.

I'm hanging out in the IRC version of the chatroom #writethisfanfic this evening (currently 8pm here) if anybody wants to join. Or if AIM is easier, just yell, and I can move over there. :) I'll be writing if I can type around the giant golden retriever head that keeps appearing in my lap. :)
