Play Solitaire/Klondike and know that if you lose, it could very well be because all games of that type are not winnable, thus preserving valuable dignity?

Play Freecell and know that if you lose, it's because obviously you are meant to play again, as all Freecell games are theoretically winnable?

TICKY BOX.

(The last question in the poll can maybe be better explained if I link to this messageboard discussion on Freecell vs Solitaire/Klondike and whether either of the two games are always winnable.)

So, today's question is tricky and ties into yesterday's question.

Now that you have identified (perhaps) your favorite method of procrastination——what makes you tear yourself away from that? What's worth giving up the rewards of "oh god, writing so hard, another game of Freecell sounds way better"?

I mean, long term, obviously we all want to write for our own reasons, but in the short term, when there's laundry to be done, dogs or cats or chinchillas or whatever to pet, food to be cooked, naps to be taken, computer games to beat or not beat—— what gives you that kick out of Procrastination Station and into writing?

I take breaks from "high-stakes" high-concept stories that I'm tightly-wound about making perfect by writing hurried, slapdash, self-indulgent kmeme fills. So writing and taking a break are both technically correct.

I wrote a lot today, a surprising amount, and I was actually pleased with it. And then I posted it, which gave me a nice feeling of achievement.

And then I made rat toys out of bras, so, y'know, it was a day of two halves :P

Solitaire is mean, I can't remember the last time I actually won a game.

I can't sleep if I have a burning idea that needs to be written, and I'm very neurotic, so I tend to lift myself from Procrastination Station with a forklift if needs be :P there's not really anything I enjoy doing more than writing, so I guess writing is my procrastination :P

400 words yesterday on that fic I'm still not sure about. I think my uncertainty is due my lack of real interest in the show (NCIS) beyond the first two seasons. I'm going to stick with it for a wee bit and see what direction it takes me in.

No words as yet today as I've had the dreaded dentist and won't get home for a few more hours. Maybe I'll be able to sneak in a few notes at my mental health workshop this afternoon.

I tend to force myself away from youtube and twitter knowing that they'll still be there when I finish whatever it is I want to focus my attention on. As for the RL stuff it's knowing what needs to be done right away and what can wait for another few hours (sometimes days).
