I see from the answers to the question that finding a beta is as difficult as ever. I try to compile a post about options when I got more time and energy for it :D
So, did you ...
... write something?
... thought about anything related to your stories?
... planned?
... sent something off to the beta?
... posted a story?
... dealt with real life issues?
Does it help you to take deliberate break aka decide you will not be writing or thinking about writing for a day or two? Or are you more like me and end up most motivated on such days if you ever thought it was wise to try this?

Question of the Day
Does it help you to take deliberate break aka decide you will not be writing or thinking about writing for a day or two? Or are you more like me and end up most motivated on such days if you ever thought it was wise to try this?

Date: Wednesday, February 6th, 2013 23:52 (UTC)I don't usually plan my breaks; they happen because I know I'm going to be unable to write anyway for whatever reason. I'm more likely to plan when I will write rather than when I will take a break from it. At this point, I have too many breaks as it is. ;-) Even when I plan my writing around the days that are most conducive to it, I still don't always feel motivated to write, alas!

Date: Thursday, February 7th, 2013 00:25 (UTC)I usually take my breaks when my dyslexia is kicking my arse on those days the whole process is a chore and it's best that I do nothing.
I am taking a cheeky break just now with finishing my big Taggart fic because I'm still a bit shocked I got over 17K words written, I struggle to get past 1k most of the time.

Date: Thursday, February 7th, 2013 13:10 (UTC)On the negative side, I haven't written at all this week. Had a fairly bad kindergarten class Sunday morning, and I've spent too much time on that to the exclusion of pretty much everything else.
Planning to get back on track today (fingers crossed).
Mom came down sick last night with no warning. She's had a flu shot, so waiting to see what this is. Please do what needs to be done to keep yourself healthy and safe!
And I don't take deliberate breaks. I have a hard time sticking to a regular writing schedule as it is. I will be working on that again now, as a matter of fact. I'm trying to change from being an intuition/inspiration driven pantser to someone who writes regularly, on a schedule, and with other much better habits. Haven't done that well so far.
Heading off to work ASAP.

Date: Thursday, February 7th, 2013 14:04 (UTC)Taking deliberate breaks doesn't work so well for me, largely because I can't stop thinking about what I'm working on. I can put it on the back burner for a while to let it simmer to see what new ideas I can come up with, but the ideas are fairly constantly there. I'm better off switching to a different story for a while if I really want a break from what I'm working on.
