Today's discussion: Do you have any tricks of workarounds for getting your momentum back after something stops you writing?

I so have no workarounds for getting momentum back. I've gone through periods as long as a year where I didn't write much, if anything. And then suddenly it just comes back. I don't know why.

I posted the final chapter and epilgoue of Twice Unjust today. I'm happy now that it's all up because those last couple of chapters were a right pain to edit.

I usually play word games like Bookworm or when I'm getting desperate to have words on a page I'll try and write a little bit even if it is total crap.

Haven't done more than open the folder with my notes for the next WIP I want to work on. There's enough hours left in the day that I might get some writing in, if the "something else" I'm doing today -- housework -- doesn't take too long.

The way I get myself going again is to read a couple of chapters that lead up to where I am stopped, then review everything I've written or researched up to that point. If that's not enough, I try to visualize the setting and the action, running it through in my mind. Eventually, I have to sit down and force myself to struggle through a couple of sentences to get started; once I get through that, the writing usually begins to flow again.
