What's the longest thing you've ever written? What do you like or dislike about writing at that length?

The longest thing I've written is my WIP, Rheotaxis. That's currently at 190,000 words. I like having space for multiple plot threads and to investigate what a lot of different characters are doing. The length is also letting me create and explore an alien culture.

My longest fic is If You Asked at 19,559 words. I liked that I could tie up several loose ends from the series, and work my own theories into it. With this fic I disliked that it took me over a year to finish it with a complete outline before I wrote the first scenes.

My longest story is 41,000 words. I liked that I persevered through some health issues to finish, but I dislike that those same health issues prevented me from editing fully. It was for a big bang, and I just ran out of time/spoons.

I'm actually kind of afraid to reread it for fear of it being a hot mess, but I'm sure I will work up the gumption one of these days.

My longest fic is the one I'm working on right now, which is about 35k total, 18k of which has actually been put online so far.

What I like about it is that there's room for characters to change & grow, to have themes, to explore multiple points of view, etc.
What I dislike is that I'm a slow writer, so posting chapters of a longfic takes me a really long time ^^;;;

I did some editing on a shorter WIP, but that was slow-going. I wasn't inspired to work on my outline more.

The longest I've ever written is 30k. What I don't like about longer fic is that it takes me ages to finish them, since I'm a slow writer in general.

I did some editing, and also planned and researched, but then I was interrupted by football, and I haven't gotten back into writing mode yet. I'm still hoping to get some actual words written when I get back into it.

My longest fic is currently at 134,546 words. I'm a long way from finishing it, so who knows how long it will be when I finish it? Or when that will be!

I definitely like working with long fics because I can really develop characters. I also like having multiple plot threads. It gets discouraging at times when I realize how much I have left to go to tell the story I want to tell, and I have less time to write. I'm sure my readers despair when I don't update for an eternity!
