Do you write original fiction? If so, what do you find different about original fiction versus fan fiction?
I haven't written any original fiction in years, decades even. I'd been pretty much blocked for years when I first started writing fic. I could write LARP scenarios but nothing else, so that's pretty much what I have to compare fic writing to. LARP writing is more fragmented, and it teaches one to see a story from many different points of view (each character gets a short story) and to balance things so that everybody has something to do. A LARP will break if it all hinges on one character or if there are characters with very little to do.

Date: Friday, March 14th, 2014 04:13 (UTC)I tend to favor AU fanfic and fandoms where the main character is 'original' (ala, Skyrim and Fallen London) because of this. And this is why I dislike when someone takes their fanfic, changes the names, and pretends it's original. x( That's not creative!
