Discussion: world book day. Today is world book day, what is your favourite book? Do you write fic for book based fandoms?

I don't get to read books very often but when I do have the time and brains for it I re-read The BFG by Roald Dahl which has been a favourite of mine since primary school. I haven't done much fic for book based fandoms and although I have written fic for Rebus and Rizzoli & Isles I worked from the TV adaptations of those novels.

I managed to write a few sentences after procrastinating all day! Well, slight progress is still progress.

My favourite book is The Neverending Story by Michael Ende, but my fanfiction tends to be mostly for manga and anime. It's just turned out that way. :)

I may try to write this evening if I don't get distracted. So far today I've only been dealing with life!

I have quite a long list of favorite books, but the Big Favorite is Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. That is also the fandom I do the majority of my writing in. The interesting thing about LotR is that it is book based and movie based, but my writing is strictly book based. I do write in one other fandom, which is manga/anime based -- makes for interesting variety!

Missed a couple of days of these polls, so March is off to a bumpy start for me, but I'm managing. I'm just glad I was able to clear the Fic Promptly Challenge Week.

Favorite book? Hmm. It's a cliché, perhaps, but War & Peace. It is the one book that literally has everything, and I need to reread it and see what adult me gets out of it versus younger me, heh. I don't do bookfic, though, and that's mostly because I like to tread softly; authors can be awfully litigious and cease-and-desist-y when it comes to fanfic. (Unlike video game creators, who generally don't care, and, in some cases, actively encourage this sort of thing.)
