[personal profile] littlebutfierce posting in [community profile] writethisfanfic
A few people mentioned that they'd be interested in a friending/subscribing meme in this comm as part of [community profile] three_weeks_for_dw. Since we now have over 150 people subscribed to this comm (holy moly!), that sounds like a good idea.

Some of us have been chatting to each other about writing for a while, but there are always new writing buddies or fandom friends (or non-fandom friends, heh) to be made, & I for one am looking forward to finding out more about the people hanging around here!

Please copy & paste the text below in a comment. Feel free to ignore any of the questions you don't want to answer.

Enjoy, & happy people-meeting to you!

Age: 24

Fandoms: Doctor Who (classic and modern), Randall and Hopkirk (deceased) (1969 and 2001), Harry Potter. Various others are not fic-inspiring: Being Human, Merlin, Glee, Supernatural.

Other interests: Classical/ancient history, sewing, Linux, reading, original fic

What you post about in your journal: I'm kind of having a posting crisis at the moment :p Book reviews (which I'm behind on), fic, random observations. Or maybe none of the above! There may or may not be some epically long Doctor Who meta coming up for 3W4DW, depends if I can consolidate a theme or not.

The fic you've written that you are proudest of (with link!) -- & tell us why: LOL, I'm so close to having a link :p It's First Steps at the moment; I've learned so much about technique and plotting while writing it, and then there's everything else. I'm quite fond of The Doctor's First Noel, too: a lot of people seem to think I got the voices down pat for that, which was good to know.

Anything else you'd like to mention: Um, no? I don't think so :p

Age: 20

Fandoms: Angel, Bare: A Pop Opera, Bones, Burn Notice, Chess, Criminal Minds Dead Like Me, Doctor Who/Torchwood/SJA, Dollhouse, Dogma, Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Dresden Files (books and TV), Eastwick, Feeling Electric, Firefly, Good Omens, In Plain Sight, Last Five Years, Life on Mars, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Memento, Myth/Fairytales, Neverwhere, Rent, Sanctuary, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Shakespeare, Slings and Arrows, Sports Night, White Collar.

Other interests: learning how to teach myself various things (right now I'm learning how to play the ukulele and crochet), drawing writing original fiction, roleplaying, photography, linguistics, psychology, BDSM, researching things that I technically need for a fic and then getting so lost in the research that I wind up spending hte night on that instead of writing.

What you post about in your journal: Writing and real life stuff. Now that Doctor Who is on, I'm posting about that and I am going to make an effort to try and post my reactions to the TV I watch that actually is currently airing, I've just been kind of pad about that.

The fic you've written that you are proudest of (with link!) -- & tell us why: I'm not really sure what fic I am proudest of at the second. Not in a bad way, just that my opinion changes depending on the day (okay, hour) and it really depends on what kind of mood I'm on.

Anything else you'd like to mention: Not really! I'm open to all kinds of friends and welcome folks with open arms! I'm hopefully going to take more part in this comm, as I have lots of fanfics that I want to get done. I will hopefully see you lot around!

Sports Night is huge in our house. Even my 15-year-old son loves the show and can quote lines and lines of dialogue.

My favorite episode is probably "Shoe Money Tonight" followed closely by the last three eps of the series.

Oh that is awesome! I didn't get into Sports Night until there was a lot of poking and prodding on the part of my partner but I'm so glad she did not give up on me because I think it's a really fantastic show.

My favorites are actually the same ones! It's funny, I've tried watching Studio 60 and I just did not love it we way I do Sports Night

The first half of the season of Studio 60 was decent, but that whole baby story line was tedious and the second half went downhill fast. I did love the Christmas episode, though, and will occasionally re-watch it.

Fandoms: Pokemon, Fullmetal Alchemist, Homestuck, Baccano!, Black Cat, Gosick, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt. Yes, most of the fandoms I'm involved in are anime/manga. :P

Other interests: Math, business news, finance, travel, music, anime/manga, reading

What you post about in your journal: I actually only have a Dreamwidth account to join in a few communities here. ^^; I'm considering maybe crossposting my fanfics I posted in my livejournal and have them posted here. Still unsure about that.

The fic you've written that you are proudest of (with link!) -- & tell us why: Nothing, Everything, a Pokemon fic I finished in May of 2009. That is the longest story I have every written and when I was getting the hang of how to handle plot and my writing style. Many people really like the way I did the plot, despite it being similar to The Da Vinci Code, LOL.

Anything else you'd like to mention: I'm a really friendly person, so I'm fine with anyone in this community who wants to be friends with me. I too am looking forward to be part of this community more!

Fandoms: currently, BBC's Robin Hood, though that's waning in favor of Harry Potter which I've just recently (sort of) discovered and jumped into

Other interests: reading, writing, sewing, websites, currently watching: Glee, Grey's Anatomy, Army Wives

What you post about in your journal: mostly fic, but the occasional random/personal post

The fic you've written that you are proudest of (with link!) -- & tell us why: Well that's really tough, tbh, I don't think I can answer it. I have 60+ fic in various lengths, from drabbles to epics, crossing 8 fandoms so choosing one is virtually impossible. :)

Other interests: Everything! ;-) Geology, knitting, bicycling, poetry, meta/discussion, nonsense science, writing (duh), reading, lots of other stuff. At the moment, studying for math finals is a somewhat consuming interest. ;D

What you post about in your journal: Fic, writing blather, memes, signal-boosts for "such-and-such fandom person died", sometimes RL stuff or fandom meta.

The fic you've written that you are proudest of (with link!) -- & tell us why: Fine Print: The Connections Remix, atm. (I'm proud of most of my stories, really.) I signed up to an "exhibition remix challenge" (designed to show an anti-remixing fandom why remixes are awesome) without ever having done a remix before, picked one fic out of a huge pool of great options, and wrote a remix so good the original author told me mine was better - all while struggling with severe depression. I think that's something to be proud of. :-)

Age: mid-twenties

Fandoms: I'm primarily only writing BBC-Sherlock at the moment, but watch/read (or re-watch/re-read) Black Books, Criminal Minds, Doctor Who, Firefly, any- and everything Neil Gaiman, The League of Gentlemen (and, really, anything Mark Gatiss has ever done), QI, any- and everything Aaron Sorkin, Stargate SG-1, and White Collar, to name a few. And I've never met a BBC period drama I didn't enjoy.

Other interests: Vegetarian cookery, knitting, poetry, interfaith dialogue, getting lost in fic research, dystopian literature, learning languages, music, meta, wine.

What you post about in your journal: Ahahaha. Well. I'm kind of newish to Dreamwidth, and in kind of a posting slump. I think I'm going to try to use 3W4DW to get myself over that? You can expect everything from fic to writing to real life to rants to squee.

The fic you've written that you are proudest of (with link!) -- & tell us why: Okay so. I've recently gotten back into writing after a long time away. As soon as I get up the courage to post things non-anonymously, I'll let you know!

I want to curl up in your list of fandoms and nest in them. You have quite a few that make me glee.

Hee! I have spent many happy hours researching things that may never make it into fic! I am an unapologetic hoarder of esoteric information, and tend to glee about making the 'Okay, what do I need to know for this fic?' list.

Oh, yes. Me too. There's something about the research books... a sort of special bond formed from life being made just a bit better because of information gained. (Did that make any sense? Or is it time to back away from the crazy person?)

I resisted The West Wing for so long because I was so mad at Aaron Sorkin leaving Sports Night to do it. I finally gave in and loved it. Though I prefer SN to TWW, it's really hard to compare a 30 minute comedy to a 1 hour drama. Studio 60 had great potential, I just haven't figured out where it went wrong.

Yep, me too. So angry. But I could not resist the siren call of Allison Janney and Martin Sheen, and ended up falling (nearly) just as hard. You're right -- it's in some ways so hard to compare them, and I think that makes it easier to love them both.

Oh, Studio 60. I wanted so badly for it to be wonderful and amazing, and was completely heartbroken when it just... wasn't. (However, the music from the Christmas episode was gorgeous, and I will occasionally re-watch.)

I just joined this community, so I don't actually know anyone yet, but... here goes nothing!

Name: Shaina

Age: 19

Fandoms: Doctor Who (new), Torchwood, BtVS, Dollhouse, Robin Hood BBC, Sherlock BBC, The Road to El Dorado, House, White Collar, Game of Thrones (TV show and book series), Psych, The West Wing, Harry Potter, Discworld, Star Trek (Voyager and Reboot)... and probably more I'm forgetting. I don't write in all of those, but I like to read fic too!

Other interests: Psychology, education, Spanish, linguistics, kink, fashion, cooking, making jewelry, social justice, feminism, etc.

What you post about in your journal: Rants about RL, reactions to things I'm watching/reading/listening to, fic whenever I have the time/energy. (Most of my fic is pr0n, but I'm working on changing that!)

The fic you've written that you are proudest of (with link!) -- & tell us why: Hm... I really like my fic Plus (Doctor Who, Amy/Rory/Eleven, NC17) because there's actually some substance to go along with the sex, and I love love love this pairing.

Anything else you'd like to mention: I am smack dab in the middle of finals right now, so posting might be sporadic (and fic-writing definitely will be), but I plan on being very active this summer!

Robin Hood is one of those fandoms where I'm sort of tangentially involved... I read anything I find, but haven't written all that much. Same with Harry Potter, actually. I'm always looking for new things to read, though!

I see from your post above that you like Sports Night; I actually haven't seen any of that, although I looooove West Wing. I take it it's worth watching? :)

Howdy!

Well, I have a ton of RH fanfic written so if you're interested, I'd be tickled to have you try out my stuff. And I can recommend a bunch of authors. Actually, I'm working on a project (not mine) with several other RH fandom friends getting all (that we can find) the fics in LJ linked up in a main comm, so I can share that link, if you want.

I have just started writing for HP but I'm still trying to get a feel for the characters so those few stories may not be the greatest just yet. I'm primarily a Harry/Ginny shipper, but do like to test out alternate pairings.

And, yes, Sports Night is it absolutely worth watching. Some of the best television ever.

Nice to talk to you!

From: [personal profile] dchan
Name: dchan, but I've also been transitioning to using San more and more these days too. Either is fine, really. :3
Age: 23...not that it actually feels like it.
Fandoms: White Collar, Burn Notice, Castle, Criminal Minds, The Chicago Code, Skip Beat (manga), Claymore (manga), but I wouldn't necessarily say I'm particularly active in any of them. Oh and I tend to be fairly up on New!Who and Torchwood stuff because I'm friends with a bunch of people who watch and I've sort of picked it up by osmosis.
Other interests: ...the internet? XD Things that I tend to get really passionate about are LGBTQ issues, especially trans* issues, and issues relating to people with Autism Spectrum Disorders. (Don't talk to me about Autism Speaks unless you want to hear a very impassioned rant. I really don't like them.) I also take a lot of interest in issues regarding asexuality, polyamory, and/or kink.

On the non-political front, I really enjoy gothic and industrial music and I enjoy going to concerts for industrial bands who come to town.

What you post about in your journal: ...uh, I don't post a lot, really. One of the big topics I've been exploring there recently is the meaning of identity and trying to define an identity for myself. Those tend to be pretty long and difficult for me to write so they only get posted every couple months or so. I also post a fair number of psychological musings of my various RP characters, though I think I am going to move those off to a comm specifically geared for that kind of thing soon. I tend to be more of a commenter--I'll get inspiration from something someone has said in their post and then I'll end up posting big walls of text as comments in reply.

The fic you've written that you are proudest of (with link!) -- & tell us why: Uhhhhh....I'm not actually sure. I've never really written full fics before in my opinion, mostly vignettes for various RP characters. "Without You" is one of the few things I've written that I've ever got the nerve to post (even if it was in a personal RP journal) so I suppose that has to count for something. XD All of the characters involved (including the ones that aren't mine) are OCs, so if you need a bit of explanation on who everyone is pls feel free to comment and ask for clarification.

I'm also quite proud of a little ficlet that I wrote for a writing sample of a character application. Unfortunately playing that character never worked out. :(

Anything else you'd like to mention: I would really like to learn how to write stories with dialogue. I'd also really like to learn how to write stories with more than one person in the scene at a time. And it'd also be nice if everyone didn't always die at the end of my fics. It's really quite a bit depressing. XD

Well I really just lurk around the community, but... I might as well introduce myself. :)

Name: Kati

Age: 27

Fandoms: Supernatural is the one I'm mostly active in, and even then I'm mostly just quiet. But I do jump around in fandoms quite a bit (I dabble XD ), some of the ones that I've ended up writing fic for myself include; Transformers, Marvel, Highlander, Buffy, Blood Ties, Harry Potter... I occasionally read quite a bit of fic in fandoms like, Doctor Who, Inception, Stargate: Atlantis, White Collar, Leverage, Dresden Files, Good Omens and actually quite a lot of others, but I've never managed to get any fic written in any of those.

Other interests: My cats and dog. Recording podfic. Nothing much else at the moment.

What you post about in your journal: Umm... some fandom related things, some stuff about what's happening in my life (Which usually isn't all that much). Lately not all that much anything, since school's kept me busy. But school will be over after this week so who knows if I'll get inspired to be a bit more active again.

The fic you've written that you are proudest of (with link!) -- & tell us why: Right now I'd say that it's Only for a Moment (and I should mention that it's Wincest and dub-con), because writing it I strayed so far out of the realm of what I was comfortable with that I'm still suprised I managed writing it. And it still maged to come out a decent story. I'm very proud of myself.

Anything else you'd like to mention: Nothing really. I'm a friendly, but often very shy person.
