So far my day had been filled with beta-reading rather than my own writing along with a couple of other fandom related activities. I don't think I'm going to get much if any writing done today, so I'm going to call it a day off. (I want to finish watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1, which I started last night. After that I'm going to start my Friday Night Lights re-watch with episode one and maybe move on to episode two. I also have a land comm challenge that I really should work on.

As for the questions...

I have been involved in fandom for about ten years now. I started writing fan fic because I was reading so much bad stuff, I thought, "I can do better than this." My first fan fic was for JAG. I don't actively write in that fandom any longer, though I have several unfinished fics, one of which I absolutely want to finish and will probably end up being one my challenges here towards the fall.
