It's day nine, fellow writers, and the weekend is half over. Has your Saturday been as busy as mine? Did you manage to get more than a dismal paragraph written?
Today, I have done:
- Writing
- Editing
- Sent fic to beta
- Post
- Planning and/or research
- Procrastinate
- Something else I will describe in comments.
Today it's time for a general fic chat post: How's the WIP progressing? Are you looking for a beta? Want to post a snippet of your WIP? Have other fic-related things you want to chat about? Are you getting what you need out of the community to help you with your writing? Tell us about your progress.

Date: Saturday, July 9th, 2011 20:23 (UTC)... I think I'm too crabby-sulky-low-self-esteemy fic writer right now to post anything, ha! Maybe I will get back into the swing of things sometime soon. I hope so. I'm hoping work will get less frantic -- if nothing else, it's the time of year when people start going on vacation, which in theory should mean they won't be around to foist work on me. >_

Date: Sunday, July 10th, 2011 01:45 (UTC)This morning was really productive, though it was cut short and I didn't get to get back to it like I hoped. BUT that's good, I always seem to be more productive when I'm antsy to work on something and I feel like I pull better stuff out of my brain too. :P
Snippet is in a reply to this post...

Date: Sunday, July 10th, 2011 01:47 (UTC)The drive to the VOQ at Bolling Air Force Base was comfortable and Teresa finally told Harm about her conference topic.
He parked the car and came around and opened her door for her.
“You know, you’re the only one who does that for me,” she said, taking his hand as he helped her out.
“I’m glad,” he replied softly. He opted to not let go of her hand this time, and she allowed him to keep a hold of it as they walked into the building.
“You don’t have to do this either you know,” she said, gently body-nudging him.
“My mama raised me right, and if she found out I didn’t walk a lady to her door, she’d tan my hide.”
Teresa chuckled and pressed the up button for the elevator. A moment later, the indicator bell dinged and the doors swished open.
Harm followed her inside. She pressed the button for the third floor and the doors swished closed again. She leaned against one wall, while he leaned against the opposite wall.
“I had a really nice time today,” Teresa said. “Thanks for spending the day with me.”
“It was my pleasure.”
The elevator bumped to a stop, and the doors slid open again.
They exited and Teresa led the way to her room.
“Well, this is where I turn into a pump—”
Harm slid an arm across her shoulder and covered her mouth with his. He feathered his lips across hers and took advantage of her still open mouth. He slipped his tongue inside and caressed hers lightly.
Teresa leaned into him, sighing into his mouth, and responding to his kiss for a short time. She ended the kiss delicately and looked up him. “Harm, I—”
He put a finger to her mouth. “I know you probably didn’t want me to do that, but I’ve been wanting to since dinner.
“And it has nothing to do with Mac and everything to do with you.”

Date: Sunday, July 10th, 2011 01:47 (UTC)But I'm doing okay. Saturday was busy and I didn't get much writing done, but I hope to finally finish off that AU big bang today and send my rough draft in. Then I can move on to other things while I get that beta'd. That'll be one less thing to worry about. Technically, I do still need to find a beta for my AU big bang though. May have to badger my friends again and see if anyone's willing to do it. This is what happens when you're stuck in fandoms of one. There's no one else in fandom to beta for you. :(
Got two kink_bingo fills posted as well and I finally decided what bingo I'm going for. Now I just have to write the rest of the fics to go with it. Always fun. :D
That's about it, really. I should stop rambling and get on with mah writing. I have lots to write today. D: WELL. Not A LOT but still, I need to finish this draft. D:

Date: Sunday, July 10th, 2011 03:33 (UTC)I'm getting a bit concerned, in that my deadline for having my Big Bang completed and submitted is in exactly three weeks. *gulp* And of course, this next week in RL is probably THE busiest week to date, so I can't really plan on having an effective writing week. Guess that means I need to burn the midnight oil tonight! Even so, I'm encouraged to see that I have 10k words towards my 20k minimum, so if I don't waste any time and the Muse doesn't desert me, I should be okay!

Date: Sunday, July 10th, 2011 15:19 (UTC)Still looking for a beta for the WIP. I asked again in fandom on Friday and so far no takers. Part of me thinks that it's the pairing that's putting people off :( if all my options fail I'll ask my friends on LJ and see if anyone is up for doing it.
Snippet - very rough unedited first draft of the prolouge
Detective Stabler was always too stubborn to walk away from the job and at times this put him at odds with everyone in the squad, not to mention IAB. His actions two days ago lead IAB to investigate him once more.
I knew from his affect when left after giving his statement after he shot Jenna Fox that he’d reached the end of his tenure with the unit, but I was shocked when I opened his letter of resignation on my desk this morning.
In some respects it’s the right time for him to move on and do other things with his life; he’s given over 22 years of exemplary service to the NYPD.
All I can do is wish him all the best in the next stage of his life, whatever he ends up doing.
