If you wrote, how many words did you get written?
How do you feel about your fic today?

Date: Sunday, August 7th, 2011 21:00 (UTC)The trope I seem to be writing a lot recently is domesticity. I don't know how that happened because I'm not actually that fond of it, but... writing it makes me happy.

Date: Sunday, August 7th, 2011 23:17 (UTC)Also I had a massive epic conversation with my dad that started with Deep Space Nine and went on to religion and politics and nitpicky language stuff. Which was prep for a long thinky PM I need to write to a friend, so. :D
And tropes! I... am bad at identifying tropes.
I know I have a massive thing for "the Guarding Dark", i.e. a character who is always fighting an inner battle not to turn into a bad guy. And an equally massive thing for shapeshifters, cops, and cop-like vigilantes. (The number of gruff, lovable, optionally shapeshifty cop-guys in my list of Favorite Fandom Characters is... ridiculous. *g*)
I loooove writing slice-of-life fic; I love characters (especially guys) who love kids; I love protective parental figures, and masters of the deadpan one-liner (as long as they don't use it hurtfully), and clever-handed people, and people who would be good to have around in the zombie apocalypse. And I am ridiculously fond of "best enemies", and of partners who know each other so well they can work together without having to say anything.

And then I remembered a scene I meant to write and which I think I started but never finished, so that's what's next.
Tropes...I'm not so good with identifying those either, tbh...
If it's well done I like just about anything romance related. I do like "forced to spend time in close proximity" type scenarios when you can just *feel* the sexual attraction/tension between two characters (Mulder/Scully anyone?), um...that's all I can think of specifically off the top of my head. Secret baby is one of my least faves, though.
I don't know that I really write to any tropes either.

Date: Monday, August 8th, 2011 03:27 (UTC)I could probably name a few dozen trope I gravitate towards... but without opening that certain site, I will say that I love friends! As in the blood-brothers, die-for-you, nakama, stick-with-you-til-the-end-and-after-that kinds of friends. Along similar lines I'm a sucker for relationships that are in between being romantic and platonic, or maybe even romantic friendships, life-partnery things.

Date: Monday, August 8th, 2011 05:59 (UTC)I like stories where characters gradually fall in love - Ive never written one like that - but I like there to be more than just that going on. So, a bit of sappiness but with a rich backdrop.

Date: Monday, August 8th, 2011 17:36 (UTC)I'm not too familiar with tropes, although I enjoyed writing one trope in which the characters don't say their names. In that story I had one of the characters say his love interest's first name and then they became passionate with one another. The two had known each other for a long time, so it's about time he starts saying her first name. XD
