Question: What is your favorite type of writing challenge? Drabbles? Exchanges? Bingo cards? Anonymous kink memes? Something else? Or do you prefer to write without challenges?

I didn't get writing done, but I spent time getting all my notes together on a portable drive to take with me on a trip. I should have time every day while I'm away to spend doing my own thing, and I hope that will be writing!

I like challenges that have to include a word or phrase, as well as fixed-length fics like drabbles. I did bingo cards for the first time this year, and liked them! I was part of a community that had a monthly challenge, and I got a lot of writing done that way, but that community petered out, so now I'm just trying to write without challenges for the most part.

Editing! Challenges definitely get ne writing, especially exchanges, but I am attempting to do fewer of them.

A combination of writing and editing today! I needed to catch up on life stuff this afternoon, so I didn't get as much done as I hoped, but at least I got a few paragraphs going.

I wrote like 1.2k today and finished the assignment I was working on! *fistpump* (I also got some help on my database and figured out how to combine authors and/or fandoms in queries for crossovers or multi-authored fics. :D It's not writing but it's totally fun and feels very satisfying as I add new fics and watch the number of fics creep up - 555 now. I've only just begun to do it but it's already useful!)

Which segues into the answer to your question - definitely exchanges. I'm greedy and I want fic written just for me, lol. And I want comments on the fics I write! Exchanges combine both into one satisfying package, complete with deadlines so I can't dawdle and put it off forever. And the prompts, while sometimes frustrating or unhelpful, can be just what I needed to do an amazing job when I otherwise wouldn't have thought to even write that. I'd wallow too much in idfic or start WIPs I couldn't finish - or write nothing at all - if I didn't have exchanges to get the words flowing. The only trouble with right now is real life has sort of gotten insanely busy as well which means I haven't had the time to work on the non-exchange fics that I want to, but eh, such is life! Now that I've gotten all my exchange fics done, I can relax for a bit - and if I have time, work on the non-exchange ones.

Thought of a few additions to the current WIP. Weekend is already mostly planned for both work and play, with little to no writing in store, so I'll have plenty of time to think of more.

Anonymous kink memes. Apart from the seemingly ever-shrinking number of responses they seem to get, which is part of the reason I always try to fill as many requests as I can instead of just one.
